Interest in the properties and uses of cationic surfactants has continued to grow since the publication of Cationic Surfactants in the Surfactant Science Series in 1970. This is partly evidenced by the fact that what could be covered at the time in one volume now requires three. Our current volume emphasizes the physical chemistry of cationic surfactants, focusing on their physical properties and their mechanism of action in important applications. As such, we feel it should be of interest to those engaged in both academic research and industrial research and development.
