Institutions and Wage Formation in the New Europe

Gabriel Fagan, Francesco P. Mongelli, Julian Morgan, "Institutions and Wage Formation in the New Europe"
English | 2004 | ISBN: 1843764326 | PDF | pages: 268 | 0.8 mb

The workshop How Are Wages Determined in Europe was held at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt in December 2001 to analyze several features of European wage determination and how it has changed in recent years. In 11 papers that emerged from it, European and US economists discuss the role of institutions in affecting the dispersion of wages across occupational, age, skill, industry, and employment contract categories; recent wage moderation in Europe and the role of bargaining systems; and the extent to which institutions are evolving within Europe in light of the European Monetary Union and other economic and commercial factors.
