Critical Thinking and Reasoning :
Theory, Development, Instruction, and Assessment

by Daniel Fasko, Frank Fair
English | 2021 | ISBN: 9004444580 | 336 Pages | PDF | 2.56 MB

Critical Thinking and Reasoning provides access to expert views on critical thinking.

This volume is aimed at advanced undergraduate and graduate students, teacher educators, academicians, practitioners, and researchers. It will be of special value to those interested in promoting and evaluating the acquisition of the skills involved in reasoning well and thinking critically, as well as the acquisition of the relevant dispositions and character that make a genuine critical thinker.

The book is divided into four parts: one on Theories, a second on Development and Learning, the third on Curriculum and Instruction, and the fourth on Assessment. The idea is to cover a diverse set of approaches to understanding what critical thinking is, to understanding how critical thinking develops from childhood through adolescence on to adulthood, to understanding successful ways in which critical thinking can be taught to children, high school students, and adults, and to understanding the diverse and widely-used ways progress in critical thinking can be assessed. In addition, each section will include an expert Commentary in which a contributor will discuss and synthesize the three chapters in their respective section, (e.g., Theories), and then add his/her ideas/conceptions about the topic.
