Introductory Topology: Exercises And Solutions, 2nd Edition

Mohammed Hichem Mortad, "Introductory Topology: Exercises And Solutions, 2nd Edition"
2016 | ISBN-10: 9813146931, 9813148020 | 374 pages | PDF | 6 MB

"With the publication of the second edition, the author has made a good book even better. The author's writing style is clear and detailed, and therefore this book should be accessible to most reasonably well-prepared college students. The exercises come in a variety of forms. Most exercises have solutions appearing in the back of the book, but in every chapter there is a section of exercises for which there are no solutions, another factor which would help make this book suitable as a stand-alone text. To summarize: this is a valuable book. Any professor teaching a course in topology should have a copy close at hand." Dr Mark Hunacek Iowa State University Review of the First Edition: "The idea of numerous true-false questions was a particularly good one. The book was written for a student audience . . . it should also prove quite valuable to instructors of an introductory topology course, as a readily available source of supplementary homework questions or exam questions." Mathematical Association of America Reviews The book offers a good introduction to topology through solved exercises. It is mainly intended for undergraduate students. Most exercises are given with detailed solutions. In the second edition, some significant changes have been made, other than the additional exercises. There are also additional proofs (as exercises) of many results in the old section "What You Need To Know", which has been improved and renamed in the new edition as "Essential Background". Indeed, it has been considerably beefed up as it now includes more remarks and results for readers' convenience. The interesting sections "True or False" and "Tests" have remained as they were, apart from a very few changes.
