Darkfever (Fever Series, Book 1)
Dell | August 28 2007 | English | ISBN-10: 0440240980 | PDF | 165 pages

MacKayla "Mac" Lane is a small-town southern girl living a life of suntans and shopping. All that changes when her sister dies in Ireland and a cryptic message on Mac's cell phone raises disturbing questions about the nature of her sister's death. Mac follows the lead to Dublin and the strange life her sister led, on to the darkly dangerous book-dealer Jericho Barrons, and a burgeoning war with deadly Fae that humankind doesn't even realize has begun. Time-travel-romance maven Moning reshapes her Celtic lore for a radically different and engaging new dark fantasy series. Mac's first-person narrative is more than point of view; it's a true recounting of how a sheltered young girl grows to accept the role fate has dealt her. And while moments of sexual awareness hint that a relationship between Mac and Jericho could complicate matters in the future, wisely there is no full-blown romance here to distract from the complex introduction to Moning's new world. From Publishers Weekly
Drawing on elements from the paranormal world that bestseller Moning (Spell of the Highlander) created in her earlier romances, this suspense novel takes readers on a darker journey, one dominated by the search for a powerful Faery magic and bereft of the romantic magic Moning's fans have come to expect. When MacKayla Lane, an ordinary young woman, travels to Ireland to track down her sister's murderer, she is sucked into an extraordinary world filled with ancient secrets, vampires, assorted Fae nasties and other tough-to-kill beings. In the process, Mac learns of her own unusual talents and finds an unlikely mentor in the wealthy and mysterious Jericho Barrons. Moning's newest foray contains suspense and plenty of setup. Indeed, this reads like a fragment of a larger story, an introduction to character and place that, while entertaining, skims the surface. But it's a compelling world filled with mystery and vivid characters, and this, combined with the hint of sparks between Jericho and Mac, will stoke readers' fervor for Bloodfever, the next installment. (Nov.)

Bloodfever: The Fever Series (A Mackayla Lane Novel)
Dell | Reprint edition | August 26 2008 | English | ISBN-10: 0440240999 | PDF | 186 pages

From Publishers Weekly
Moning's latest feverish Fae dispatch (after Darkfever) finds that in Dublin the walls are coming down between Man and Faery. That means that the Buffy-like services of MacKayla Lane—the 22-year-old Georgia-born sidhe-seer (or one who can see the Fae) and slayer—are required. Mac is determined to kick the nasties back to faeryland and to avenge her sister Alina's murder by the Fae's dark Lord Master. She's also seeking the sinister Sinsar Dubh, a book of black magic. Jericho Barrons, Mac's enigmatic protector, is a purveyor of books and antiquities (and of course, is a major hunk). As Mac takes direction from Jericho, she must resist the sexy dangers of V'lane, a death-by-sex Fae, and learn about her true family of Irish sidhe-seers. Moning's delectable Mac is breathlessly appealing, and the wild perils she must endure are peppered with endless conundrums. The results are addictively dark, erotic and even shocking.

Faefever: The Fever Series
Dell | Reprint edition | July 28 2009 | English | ISBN-10: 0440244390 | PDF | 193 pages

From Publishers Weekly
Urban Celtic fantasy slides down a dark, depressing slope in bestseller Moning's third Fever thriller (after Bloodfever), centered on a hunt for the Sinsar Dubh, a black magic book more than a million years old. As All Hallow's Eve in Dublin approaches, the walls between the human world and Faery verge on collapse. Can former Georgia peach MacKayla Mac Lane prevent a total invasion of the Unseelie Court? Originally intent on avenging her sister Alina's murder committed by Unseelie Lord Master, Mac's now a power-player in the war between the Seelie (good Fae) and Unseelie (bad Fae), after learning she's a Celtic sidhe-seeker who can sniff out OOPS (Objects of Power). Meanwhile, the attractive V'Lane, a death-by-sex Fae, wants Mac's help in securing the Sinsar Dubh for his Seelie queen, Aoibheal. At the end, erotic shocks await Mac in Dublin's vast Dark Zone, setting up feverish—if wary—expectations for the next installment. (Sept.)

From School Library Journal
The third installment in Moning's popular Fever series (Darkfever; Bloodfever) finds sidhe-seer MacKayla Lane continuing to adjust to her powers and her new life in Dublin. Though she now knows who killed her sister Alina, she's no closer to the vengeance she craves, and the information she collects about the fae and their relics leads to further questions. Unsure of whom she can trust, Mac further develops her sidhe-seeing skills, taking some unexpected detours into darker territory along the way. Secondary characters from the earlier novels, including sidhe-seer Rowena and "death-by-sex" fae V'Lane, are prominently featured, and there's plenty of action and sexual tension keeping the battle between good and evil moving forward. An abrupt cliff-hanger ending and a number of unresolved plot points ensure that the series will continue. This series is a good bet for readers of Nora Roberts's paranormal-tinged titles, who will appreciate Mac's tough yet tender character.
