Simply put, to world of fly fishing / casting this instructional has the same significance as a first-edition copy of the Bible would have to the Catholic church.

About the Joan Wulff:
Joan Wulff is widely recognized as the first lady of fly fishing. She won the New Jersey Sub-Junior Dry Fly Championship at age 12, only a few years before winning her first national title. She went on to win an international and 17 national championships over the next 16 years – casting a fly an incredible 161 feet! In 1979 Joan and her husband, Lee, started their dream, the Wulff School of Fishing. She has loved sharing her passion for fly-fishing to students and instructors for over 65 years, and is known and respected around the world as a superb fly caster and teacher. She hosts the Joan Wulff's Dyanmics of Fly Casting DVD – what many consider the best and most successful video about teaching fly casting. She also appears as the host in the DVD, Why Fly Fishing, along with other notables such as John Geierach, Flip Pallot and Nich Lyons. Joan continues to be the recipient of numerous awards relating to her efforts in both the fishing industry and conservation.

Is good casting necessary? As Joan says, "If you don't know where the fish lie, but can cast to cover the water with finesse, you are likely to catch fish. If you know where they lie, but can neither reach them nor present the fly naturally, you are not even in the game."
