Description

Navigating organizational uncertainty, change, and chaos is among the most important challenges facing profit and non-profit leaders today. In the past, leaders dealt with uncertainties but frequently wait for complete information with predictable outcomes before deriving strategic decisions. Now, in an environment of rapid change and uncertainty, leaders must anticipate and embrace change and make decisions with little information in an unpredictable environment. Nothing is more challenging than leading during organizational change, uncertainty, crisis, and chaos. That said, leading in a world of complexity and uncertainty requires new leadership with a different mindset, fresh perspective, and innovative skills. To help leaders understand, react to, and thrive in today’s fluid environment, this course presents an overview of the Meta-Leadership Model as a structured leadership framework for leaders responding to an organizational or man-made crisis. This leadership model examines the structural complexity of navigating events that are ambiguous and uncertain in any context and will deepen your understanding of organizational leadership challenges and strategic decision-making during times of crisis.  The function of crisis leaders is to solve problems and make decisions.  Therefore, when confronted with an organizational crisis, the primary goal of effective leaders is to resolve the crisis and get back to “business as usual” as quickly as possible.
