It may not be immediately evident to the casual browser that the author of these drawings is the same Frank Stack who, under the pseudonym of Foolbert Sturgeon, produced what many consider the first underground comic book, The Adventures of Jesus , in 1962. He has since remained a pillar of the underground and alternative comics world, turning out classic cartoon work like Feelgood Funnies, Dorman's Doggie and Amazons. Incredibly, this subculture colossus is also a tenured Professor of Art at the University of Missouri, where he teaches drawing, watercolor and printmaking, as well as an occasional cartoon class.
