American PT boats served in every theater of operations, from 7 IXvember 1941 to August of 1945. They served in the United States Navy, the British Royal Navy and the RtlMtea Navy. One was even captured by the German Kriegsmarine and used operationally for a short period.
It is claimed that a PT boat (PT-23) shot down the first Japanese aircraft of the war. It was a PT boat (PT-41) that took GEN Douglas Mac Arthur out of Corregidor and it was a PT boat (PT-373) that took him back to the Philippines in 1944.
This in Action gives a bit more text than usual - it has to in order to cover the development of the PT boat. All of the photos in the book are B&W shots of the boats at speed, docked, engine room, weapons used. Line drawings and 2 pages of camouflage scheme round out the book.
