The economic problem (4th Edition)

The economic problem (4th Edition) by Robert L Heilbroner
English | 1975 | ISBN: 0132333201 | 714 Pages | PDF | 117.4 MB

Supply and demand, the circular flow, identities, C, I, G, X, money, growth, microeconomics, trade; it's all here. In fact the breadth of the text is pretty amazing. I have to go out of my way to commend the explanation of the circular flow and the relationship between consumption, investment, saving etc. especially; this is one of the core concepts of economics that must be mastered and Heilbroner explains it better than any other author I have seen. Heilbroner will always be my favourite economist; his style of writing is lucid and entertaining; it jumps off the page at you. It is also interesting to read the author's occasional musings about the problems of the time, and to think about how they have (or haven't) been resolved 20 years later. Heilbroner is also big on economic history: he gives a short outline of the ideas of smith, marx and keynes in addition to economic history in the early chapters of the book. Most textbooks today completely skip over this aspect, but it is integral to the understanding of economics.
