Japanese mythology comes mainly from two texts: The Kojiki or "Records of Ancient Matters" and the Nihon Shoki or "Chronicles of Japan."These books were mostly propaganda: Creation myths and lineages that ultimately resulted in the ruling bloodline of emperors, thus justifying their right to rule over the common folk. From that tree to other gods merged, this is how the supreme Trinity emerged.
