Concepts in Geostatistics

Concepts in Geostatistics by Richard B. McCammon
English | PDF | 1975 | 178 Pages | ISBN : 3540068929 | 5.6 MB

A two-week summer short course entitled Current Statistical Methods in Geology supported by the National Science Foundation was held at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle in Chicago, Illinois from June 19 to June 30, 1972. The aim of the short course was to bridge the gap between the traditional first courses in sta tistics offered at most educational institutions and geostatistics as it is being developed by geologists and statisticians engaged in the application of statistics in geology. The course was intended for geology college teachers who were either then teaching or preparing to teach a course within their department dealing with computer ap plications and the use of statistical methods in geology. This book arose out of the class notes which were prepared by the course director and the invited lecturers. We are grateful to the 28 teachers who attended for their enthu siastic interest and thoughtful responses to the many statistical concepts presented to them as geologists during the two weeks of the course. I am deeply grateful to my graduate assistants, Richard Kolb and Andrea Krivz, for the long hours spent in collating the course mater ials, testing the various computer programs, and instructing the par ticipants in the use of computer BASIC.

Geostatistics and Geospatial Technologies for Groundwater Resources in India by Partha Pratim Adhikary
English | EPUB | 2021 | 609 Pages | ISBN : 3030623963 | 179.8 MB

This book offers essential information on geospatial technologies for water resource management and highlights the latest GIS and geostatistics techniques as they relate to groundwater.
Groundwater is inarguably India's single most important natural resource. It is the foundation of millions of Indian farmers' livelihood security and the primary source of drinking water for a vast majority of Indians in rural and urban areas. The prospects of continued high rates of growth in the Indian economy will, to a great extent, depend on how judiciously we can manage groundwater in the years to come.

Interdisciplinary Statistics in Mexico

Interdisciplinary Statistics in Mexico

Interdisciplinary Statistics in Mexico: AME Virtual Meeting, September 10–11, 2020, and 34 FNE, Acatlán, Mexico, September 22–24, 2021 by Isadora Antoniano-Villalobos, Ruth Fuentes-García, Lizbeth Naranjo, Luis E. Nieto-Barajas, Silvia Ruiz-Velasco Acosta
English | PDF,EPUB | 2022 | 234 Pages | ISBN : 3031127773 | 75.5 MB

The volume includes a collection of peer-reviewed contributions from among those presented at the FNE, the main conference organized every two years by the Mexican Statistical Society (AME), and the 2020 AME Virtual Meeting. Statistical research in Latin America is prolific and research networks span both within and outside the region. As much of the work is typically carried out and published in Spanish, a large portion of the interested public is denied access to interesting findings, and the goal of this volume is therefore to provide access to selected works from Mexican collaborators and their international research networks to a wider audience. It may be especially attractive to academics interested in the latest methodological advances, while professionals from other disciplines may also find value in these new tools for data analysis. In 2021, the conference broadly focused on the interdisciplinary aspects of Statistics.

Mineral Resource Estimation by Mario E. Rossi, Clayton V. Deutsch
English | PDF | 2014 | 337 Pages | ISBN : 1402057164 | 34.4 MB

Mineral resource estimation has changed considerably in the past 25 years: geostatistical techniques have become commonplace and continue to evolve; computational horsepower has revolutionized all facets of numerical modeling; mining and processing operations are often larger; and uncertainty quantification is becoming standard practice. Recent books focus on historical methods or details of geostatistical theory. So there is a growing need to collect and synthesize the practice of modern mineral resource estimation into a book for undergraduate students, beginning graduate students, and young geologists and engineers. It is especially fruitful that this book is written by authors with years of relevant experience performing mineral resource estimation and with years of relevant teaching experience. This comprehensive textbook and reference fills this need.

Spatial Statistics and Modeling

Spatial Statistics and Modeling by Carlo Gaetan
English | PDF(True) | 2010 | 308 Pages | ISBN : 0387922563 | 8.1 MB

Spatial statistics are useful in subjects as diverse as climatology, ecology, economics, environmental and earth sciences, epidemiology, image analysis and more. This book covers the best-known spatial models for three types of spatial data: geostatistical data (stationarity, intrinsic models, variograms, spatial regression and space-time models), areal data (Gibbs-Markov fields and spatial auto-regression) and point pattern data (Poisson, Cox, Gibbs and Markov point processes). The level is relatively advanced, and the presentation concise but complete.

Geostatistics with Data of Different Support Applied to Mining Engineering by Marcel Antonio Arcari Bassani
English | EPUB | 2022 | 84 Pages | ISBN : 3030801926 | 17.9 MB

This book explains the integration of data of different support in Geostatistics. There is a common misconception in the mining industry that the data used for estimation/simulation should have the same size or support. However, Geostatistics provides the tools to integrate several types of information that may have different support. This book aims to explain these geostatistical tools and provides several examples of applications. The book is directed for a broad audience, including engineers, geologists, and students in the area of Geostatistics.

Statistics of Earth Science Data: Their Distribution in Time, Space, and Orientation by Graham Borradaile
English | PDF | 2003 | 371 Pages | ISBN : 364207815X | 58.3 MB

The Goals of Data Collection and Its Statistical Treatment in the Earth Sciences The earth sciences are characterised by loose and complex relationships between variables, and the necessity to understand the geographical dis tribution of observations as well as their frequency distribution. Our fre quency distributions and the looseness of relationships reflect the com plexity and intrinsic natural variation in nature, more than measurement error. Furthermore, earth scientists cannot design experiments according to statistical recommendation because the availability and complexity of data are beyond our control.
