Fast Software Encryption: 13th International Workshop, FSE 2006, Graz, Austria, March 15-17, 2006, Revised Selected Papers by Matthew Robshaw
English | PDF | 2006 | 443 Pages | ISBN : 3540365974 | 4.3 MB

Fast Software Encryption (FSE) 2006 is the 13th in a series of workshops on symmetric cryptography. It has been sponsored for the last ?ve years by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), and previous FSE workshops have been held around the world: 1993 Cambridge, UK 1994 Leuven, Belgium 1996 Cambridge, UK 1997 Haifa, Israel 1998 Paris, France 1999 Rome, Italy 2000 New York, USA 2001 Yokohama, Japan 2002 Leuven, Belgium 2003 Lund, Sweden 2004 New Delhi, India 2005 Paris, France The FSE workshop is devoted to research on fast and secure primitives for symmetric cryptography, including the design and analysis of block ciphers, stream ciphers, encryption schemes, analysis and evaluation tools, hash fu- tions, and message authentication codes. This year more than 100 papers were submitted to FSE for the ?rst time. After an extensive review by the ProgramCommittee, 27 papers were presented at the workshop. Of course, the programwould not have been complete without the invited speaker, and the presentation by Eli Biham on the early history of di?erential cryptanalysis was particularly appreciated by workshop attendees.

Computational Geometry: An Introduction

Computational Geometry: An Introduction by Franco P. Preparata , Michael Ian Shamos
English | PDF | 1985 | 413 Pages | ISBN : 0387961313 | 34.4 MB

From the reviews: "This book offers a coherent treatment, at the graduate textbook level, of the field that has come to be known in the last decade or so as computational geometry. … … The book is well organized and lucidly written; a timely contribution by two founders of the field. It clearly demonstrates that computational geometry in the plane is now a fairly well-understood branch of computer science and mathematics. It also points the way to the solution of the more challenging problems in dimensions higher than two." #Mathematical Reviews#1 "… This remarkable book is a comprehensive and systematic study on research results obtained especially in the last ten years. The very clear presentation concentrates on basic ideas, fundamental combinatorial structures, and crucial algorithmic techniques. The plenty of results is clever organized following these guidelines and within the framework of some detailed case studies. A large number of figures and examples also aid the understanding of the material. Therefore, it can be highly recommended as an early graduate text but it should prove also to be essential to researchers and professionals in applied fields of computer-aided design, computer graphics, and robotics." #Biometrical Journal#2

Algorithms and Data Structures in VLSI Design: OBDD - Foundations and Applications

Algorithms and Data Structures in VLSI Design: OBDD - Foundations and Applications by Christoph Meinel , Thorsten Theobald
English | PDF | 1998 | 271 Pages | ISBN : 3540644865 | 33 MB

One of the main problems in chip design is the huge number of possible combinations of individual chip elements, leading to a combinatorial explosion as chips become more complex. New key results in theoretical computer science and in the design of data structures and efficient algorithms, can be applied fruitfully here. The application of ordered binary decision diagrams (OBDDs) has led to dramatic performance improvements in many computer-aided design projects. This textbook provides an introduction to the foundations of this interdisciplinary research area with an emphasis on applications in computer-aided circuit design and formal verification.

How the World Computes: Turing Centenary Conference and 8th Conference on Computability in Europe, CiE 2012, Cambridge, UK, June 18-23, 2012, Proceedings by S. Barry Cooper, Anuj Dawar, Benedikt Löwe
English | PDF | 2012 | 773 Pages | ISBN : 3642308694 | 14.7 MB

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Turing Centenary Conference and the 8th Conference on Computability in Europe, CiE 2012, held in Cambridge, UK, in June 2012.
The 53 revised papers presented together with 6 invited lectures were carefully reviewed and selected with an acceptance rate of under 29,8%. The CiE 2012 Turing Centenary Conference will be remembered as a historic event in the continuing development of the powerful explanatory role of computability across a wide spectrum of research areas. The papers presented at CiE 2012 represent the best of current research in the area, and forms a fitting tribute to the short but brilliant trajectory of Alan Mathison Turing. Both the conference series and the association promote the development of computability-related science, ranging over mathematics, computer science and applications in various natural and engineering sciences such as physics and biology, and also including the promotion of related non-scientific fields such as philosophy and history of computing.

Property Testing: Current Research and Surveys

Property Testing: Current Research and Surveys by Oded Goldreich
English | PDF | 2010 | 370 Pages | ISBN : 3642163661 | 5 MB

Property Testing is the study of super-fast (randomized) algorithms for approximate decision making. These algorithms are given direct access to items of a huge data set, and determine, whether this data set has some predetermined (global) property or is far from having this property. Remarkably, this approximate decision is made by accessing a small portion of the data set. This state-of-the-art survey presents a collection of extended abstracts and surveys of leading researchers in property testing and related areas; it reflects the program of a mini-workshop on property testing that took place in January 2010 at the Institute for Computer Science (ITCS), Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. The volume contains two editor's introductions, 10 survey papers and 18 extended abstracts.

Notes on Introductory Combinatorics by George Pólya
English | PDF | 2010 | 202 Pages | ISBN : 0817631232 | 97.5 MB

Developed from the authors’ introductory combinatorics course, this book focuses on a branch of mathematics which plays a crucial role in computer science. Combinatorial methods provide many analytical tools used for determining the expected performance of computer algorithms. Elementary subjects such as combinations and permutations, and mathematical tools such as generating functions and Pólya’s Theory of Counting, are covered, as are analyses of specific problems such as Ramsey Theory, matchings, and Hamiltonian and Eulerian paths.

Handbook of Floating-Point Arithmetic

Handbook of Floating-Point Arithmetic by Jean-Michel Muller
English | PDF(True) | 2010 | 579 Pages | ISBN : 081764704X | 6.7 MB

Floating-point arithmetic is by far the most widely used way of implementing real-number arithmetic on modern computers. Although the basic principles of floating-point arithmetic can be explained in a short amount of time, making such an arithmetic reliable and portable, yet fast, is a very difficult task. From the 1960s to the early 1980s, many different arithmetics were developed, but their implementation varied widely from one machine to another, making it difficult for nonexperts to design, learn, and use the required algorithms. As a result, floating-point arithmetic is far from being exploited to its full potential.
