Chaos-Based Digital Communication Systems: Operating Principles, Analysis Methods, and Performance Evaluation by F. C. M. Lau , C. K. Tse
English | PDF | 2003 | 236 Pages | ISBN : 3540006028 | 16.4 MB

In the 1970's and 1980's, we saw phenomenal advancement in nonlinear sci ence, which had led to many important discoveries that greatly improve our understanding of the physical world. Among them, the discovery of chaos in deterministic systems is unarguably one of the most revolutionary scientific findings. We are now able to explain the apparent complexity and subtle or der exhibited by many physical systems under the unified framework of chaos theory. The past decade has seen heightened interest in the exploitation of chaos for useful applications in engineering systems. One application area that has attracted a great deal of attention is communications. Chaotic signals, by virtue of their wide band characteristic, are natural candidates for carrying information in a spread-spectrum communication environment.

Computer-aided Nonlinear Control System Design: Using Describing Function Models by Amir Nassirharand
English | PDF (True) | 2012 | 189 Pages | ISBN : 1447121481 | 5.1 MB

A systematic computer-aided approach provides a versatile setting for the control engineer to overcome the complications of controller design for highly nonlinear systems. Computer-aided Nonlinear Control System Design provides such an approach based on the use of describing functions. The text deals with a large class of nonlinear systems without restrictions on the system order, the number of inputs and/or outputs or the number, type or arrangement of nonlinear terms. The strongly software-oriented methods detailed facilitate fulfillment of tight performance requirements and help the designer to think in purely nonlinear terms, avoiding the expedient of linearization which can impose substantial and unrealistic model limitations and drive up the cost of the final product.

Convergence Analysis of Recurrent Neural Networks

Convergence Analysis of Recurrent Neural Networks by Zhang Yi , K. K. Tan
English | PDF | 2004 | 244 Pages | ISBN : 1402076940 | 8.5 MB

Since the outstanding and pioneering research work of Hopfield on recurrent neural networks (RNNs) in the early 80s of the last century, neural networks have rekindled strong interests in scientists and researchers. Recent years have recorded a remarkable advance in research and development work on RNNs, both in theoretical research as weIl as actual applications. The field of RNNs is now transforming into a complete and independent subject. From theory to application, from software to hardware, new and exciting results are emerging day after day, reflecting the keen interest RNNs have instilled in everyone, from researchers to practitioners. RNNs contain feedback connections among the neurons, a phenomenon which has led rather naturally to RNNs being regarded as dynamical systems. RNNs can be described by continuous time differential systems, discrete time systems, or functional differential systems, and more generally, in terms of non linear systems. Thus, RNNs have to their disposal, a huge set of mathematical tools relating to dynamical system theory which has tumed out to be very useful in enabling a rigorous analysis of RNNs.

Flexible Load Control for Enhancing Renewable Power System Operation by Yuanzheng Li , Yang Li , Zhigang Zeng
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 288 Pages | ISBN : 9819703115 | 65.6 MB

This book addresses the pressing challenges faced by renewable power system operation (RPSO) due to the increasing penetration of renewable energy and flexible load. These challenges can be divided into two categories. Firstly, the inherent uncertainties associated with renewable energy sources pose significant difficulties in RPSO. Secondly, the presence of various types of flexible load, along with their complex constraint relationships, adds to the operational complexities. Recognizing the growing emphasis on the economic and low-carbon aspects of RPSO, this book focuses on the key issues of flexible load control. It mainly consists of following categories: (1) The control of data centers, a booming flexible load, to enhance RPSO through renewable energy integration and advanced robust multi-objective optimization. (2) The introduction of flexible industrial load control, employing effective demand-supply cooperative responding strategies for RPSO. (3) The exploration of electricvehicle flexible charging load control and centralized electric vehicle charging system control in the context of RPSO. The book also covers the emerging field of flexible integrated load control for renewable energy-based comprehensive energy system operation. Aimed at researchers, engineers, and graduate students in electrical engineering and computer science, this book provides a valuable resource for understanding and implementing flexible load control in the context of RPSO.

Atmospheric and Space Flight Dynamics: Modeling and Simulation with MATLAB® and Simulink® by Ashish Tewari
English | PDF | 2007 | 567 Pages | ISBN : 0817644377 | 9.7 MB

Modern aerospace vehicles, such as the space shuttle, other launch vehicles, and long-range ballistic missiles, do not discriminate between atmospheric and space flight. Most texts on flight dynamics, however, make this artificial distinction and therefore do not simultaneously cover aircraft and spacecraft. Bridging this gap in the literature, Atmospheric and Space Flight Dynamics is a unified presentation, demonstrating that the two disciplines have actually evolved from the same set of physical principles.

Robust Sliding Mode Protocols for Formation of Quadcopter Swarm

Robust Sliding Mode Protocols for Formation of Quadcopter Swarm by Axaykumar Mehta , Akash Modi
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 165 Pages | ISBN : 9819997259 | 35.2 MB

This book presents several robust sliding mode protocols for achieving the formation and tracking of Quadcopter swarm for a given pattern. In entire book, the concept of leader-follower formation control of a multi-agent system is exploited for deriving the protocols and the graph theory is used to represent the communication between the Quadcopters. The book covers two types of formation protocols of the Quadcopter swarm namely, continuous-time sliding mode protocols and discrete-time sliding mode protocols. First, the continuous-time higher order sliding mode protocols using super-twisting algorithm are designed for formation using linear and non-linear models of Quadcopter. Then, the discrete-time sliding mode protocols using power rate reaching law, discrete-time super twisting algorithm, and exponential reaching law are presented. The protocols are thoroughly analysed for robustness, chattering, control effort, and convergence time for achieving the formation. Also, the stability conditions using the Lyapunov function are derived to ensure the stability of the swarm with each protocol. Further, each chapter includes extensive simulation and comparative studies to show the efficacy of each protocol. The book will be useful to graduate students, research scholars, and professionals working in the domain of civilian and military usage of the drone technology.

Oceanic Wave Energy Conversion: Advancement of Electrical Generators by Omar Farrok, Md Rabiul Islam
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 187 Pages | ISBN : 9819998131 | 60.6 MB

This book aims to collect the latest theoretical and technological ideas in design and construction for different kinds of oceanic wave energy converters including linear electrical generators and drive systems. Advancements in new wave energy converters, linear machine topologies, integrated mathematical modeling, application of high graded magnetic materials, and high-performance control strategies are of great interest. With the ability to generate direct thrust without any mechanical transmission, the linear electrical machines serve as the excellent choice for wave energy generators, free piston engine, industrial applications requiring linear motion, and so on. On the other hand, the special characteristics of linear electrical machines, such as the large air gap length, force ripples, end effects, cogging force, cut open magnetic circuit, half-filled end slot, pose a great challenge to the engineer and scientist. The challenge is not only for designing electrical machines but also for control strategies. The chapters of this book have been structured with theoretical, simulation, and experimental results in such a way that it provides a consistent compilation of fundamental theories, a compendium of current research and development activities as well as new directions to overcome critical limitations.
