- In this module set, we help you understand some of the tools available from Windows seven troubleshooting. But beyond the tools, this set will continue to grow as students in the classroom are online share issues they had with the deployment management. Or support for Windows 7 in their environments. Send us questions or issues we'll be researching them and almost like some of our drill bits adding additional capabilities. Features and tools to this library so that you could become a very powerful support person or troubleshooter for Windows 7.

In the first side of this module. As you take a look at it, what we're gonna provide is information on a problem steps recorder. Microsoft prefers it, you capture information and send it to them using the Problems Steps Recorder. But it could also be used for other capabilities in Windows 7. We're gonna show the advanced event viewer and event management inside of Windows 7. When I say advanced, if you haven't been and worked in Windows 7 or event viewer in the Windows 7 environment. We're gonna show here that in the event viewer for Windows 7. Rather then the standard Windows logs that you're all used to, applications, security.

Set up and system we have the ability to capture events forwarded by other Windows 7 computers or servers. And if we expand applications and services features here, we'll note that in Windows 7 we can capture hardware events, internet explorer events. Key management service events, Microsoft office alerts. And if we expand the Microsoft Windows environment. We have over 200 additional filtered logs that are captured in the event viewer. And because there's so many rather than manually navigating through all of these, we have the ability to create custom views that let us look at specific administrative events or filtered events from my entire event viewer.

This is just a quick overview of some of the advanced features of the event viewer and event viewer subscriptions for forwarded events. Entire modules that go into details of that capability. We're gonna show you how to configure remote desktop and remote assistance. Requires multiple security filters or layers on a Windows 7 box because of a security model. So you're gonna have to change services, firewall capabilities. Security groups in terms of who can acess from a desktop, And whether or not the desktop is on or off.

We'll talk more in detail in the modules for remote desktop and remote assistance. Three of those features that have to be turned on or enabled on both sides are only available to administrators. While one can be used by standard users. So you need to understand how to pre-configure support. Remote support in particular, in your environment. Important to be able to understand how to configure and troubleshoot that if you do not have successful connectivity. We're gonna show you how to do troubleshooting of your display settings and personalization and graphics capabilities in Windows 7. And some of the control panel appearances and personalization troubleshooting questions that we received in the classroom or online.

As well as troubleshooting of memory with the new, memory diagnostic tool capable in Windows 7. And some of the hard drive issues that can be troubleshot directly with Windows troubleshooting tools or by some of the other tools like check desk. Disk clean up, defrag, and the fact that defrag is already scheduled every Wednesday moring at 1:00am by default. In the task scheduler Windows 7. So we're gonna touch on some of the basic troubleshooting but also more detailed troubleshooting capabilities in Windows 7. In this module set.
