Spring Anthems is a tribute to spring. Eyolf Dale recorded the tracks in his own garden studio. In addition to the classical piano, he employs prepared piano, spinet, and various acoustic keyboard and percussion instruments.

The soundtrack for Apple TV’s “Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age” has been released, featuring music by Hans Zimmer and fellow composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman. The score was written by Zimmer, Talve and Rozman of Bleeding Fingers Music and performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. The trio are nominated in the Outstanding Music Composition For A Documentary/Nonfiction Or Reality Program (Original Dramatic Score) Emmy category. For the series’ first two seasons, Zimmer, Talve and Rozman built an arsenal of custom instruments (Raptor Violin, HadroCello, Triceratone, FatRex) out of bones, fossils and dinosaur skull replicas, fusing them with a traditional ensemble to reflect the Mesozoic Era. To capture the Ice Age era, the trio used instruments including the Divje Babe flute, which was discovered in 1995 at the Divje Babe archeological site in Slovenia. It’s a bear femur with holes, thought be a Paleolithic instrument. “Our friend has a replica. We went into the caverns of the Postojna Cave [in Slovenia] and recorded it,” said Rozman. “It’s a very eerie sound that immediately transports the listener back in time.”

Despite its relatively small scope, the organ music of Maurice Duruflé (1902–1986) ranks among the absolute highlights of 20th-century French organ music. His music masterfully combines the Gregorian chant tradition with late-Romantic influences from his teachers Louis Vierne and Charles Tournemire, as well as with the impressionistic harmony in the style of Claude Debussy and Gabriel Fauré. To mark the 40th anniversary of Duruflé’s death, Winfried Lichtscheidel presents a complete recording on the grand organ of the Stadtpfarrkirche in Landsberg am Lech, which, thanks to its stop layout, is virtually predestined for the performance of these works.

Candid Records announces the April 14, 2023 release of the soundtrack to the highly-anticipated feature film SWEETWATER. Written and directed by Martin Guigui, the film, set in 1950, tells the true story of Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton, the first African American to land an NBA contract.
