On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) sponsored a full week's festival with the greatest musicians of the US. On Friday evening, October 6, 1939, Glenn Miller was presented as one of the outstanding bands in the nation, where 20 million of youths had taken swing unto themselves. Glenn Miller had formed his Orchestra only 1 year ago, "In the mood" had just been recorded and still was to become one of the biggest hits in Jazz history.
