He’s been touring with David Guetta and to top it all off, he’s not even twenty years old yet. Kungs is like a breath of fresh air to this genre, including a mix of real instruments in his songs, horns and whistles along with tons of fun features on the album. Wolfgang, Lune, Rae Morris, Ephemerals and so many more artists are featured on this collection of songs. Featured artists on albums are great, but more than anything an album that has variety is something pretty significant. Normally that’s hard to do in the world of EDM.

Most songs usually consist of a pulsing dance beat with some electronic sounds and some sort of melody mixed in there … if you’re lucky, you get some vocals. But this kid really knows what he’s doing.

It can be agreed on that “This Girl” and most other songs related to it might sound the same but there are a couple that step beyond those EDM boundaries.

“Bangalore Streets” and “You Remain” don’t have such a prominent beat and even though they aren’t as dance oriented, they are probably my top picks from the entire track list.

Songs such as “When You’re Gone” and “Trust” are perfectly layered without being overdone. Another thing I really enjoyed are the vocals which are either left out most of the time or only used for verses in this type of music.

Kungs has stepped beyond those boundaries as well, incorporating various lyrics throughout all of the songs. There Is enough creativity put into this album without making the songs too much to handle, and this is something that makes Kungs such a distinct artist.

Kungs definitely has a lot of talent and something that really makes him stand out is how he puts a different spin on every song. If I’m being quite honest, I didn’t have high hopes for this record just because most of this music does end up sounding just like everything else out there.
