Useless words. Mute, suspended, held. From the natural flow of the imaginary inspired by this precious work by Lillo Quaratino. And from listening: an exercise now rare, but with great communicative potential. The beauty of which is here exalted. And whose pleasantly induced practice. With the same attitude with which you listen to the story of the most intriguing stories told, you end up being kidnapped by the plot, full and consistent, that each song contains in itself. Thus the useless opening words, without wasting their breath and relying on the universality of musical language, manage to paint a poetic atmosphere in which time seems to stop and space to disperse. The narrating voice takes shape in the passionate clarinet of Mirabassi. To then give way to the next story - Campana - to which Eduardo Taufic introduces his plan with an incipit with a fairytale flavor, soon dissolved in a wavy dance between instruments. Dance that is tinged with warm and sensual nuances in Doodle - on which they move, in playful alternation, the flute of Stilo and the saxophone of Maurino - and nell'elegiaco Mambo without you. The return to the dimension - so to speak - narrative passes through Rose funeral whose melancholy theme, in perfect line with the title, blooms and takes shape in a touching melody (ri) closed by notes that allude to a hoped happy ending. A little 'as it does for The Dreamer of Ostend (not by chance, already the title of the collection of stories by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt) around which comes to life, with delicate elegance, a scenario with nostalgic outlines. It is the bass drum of Quaratino to introduce it, with a passage as short as it is intense. But it is only in the following passage, Saltapicchio, that one can enjoy his more decisive presence, with a solo perfectly inserted into a melodic narration of those that are impressed in the mind like a beautiful story without age. Finally, the narrator-reciting-singer voice of Marta Raviglia thinks of a story: his text-tale of the bonus track Pugni in his pocket, unrolled on the soft harmonic fabric made by Quaratino. And the words come back to be useful.
