When I stumbled upon this record on the fleamarket, it bought it only for sheer curiousity. Some handwriting on the back cover was in English and German, but most of the text was in a language unknown to me, although I had been travelling all across Europe for many years as a truck driver, always trying to keep my eyes (and ears) open. Today I know that this unknown language is in fact one of the 4 official languages in Switzerland: Romansh, German: Rätoromanisch, Italian: Romancio. It is believed to derive from the Latin language of Roman soldiers who settled in some valleys of the Alpes about 2000 years ago.
Paulin Nuotclà sings typical 70ies folk and protest songs. He is still active today in Switzerland, but because of his rare language it is hard to find additional infos, the internet is not a respectful place, minorities are not welcome. Until some years ago he ran a small business for the painting and restauration of buildings and facades. Scans include a lyric sheet with a German introduction to every song. Sound quality is not perfect, a little worn out this record.
