I've spent 50 hours to restore these 25 minutes of history, but I'm sure that every minute was worth it. Still I can give you a serious advice: Don't try this at home !
There's lots of info about Tom Glazer on the web, but almost none about these recordings. They've been published by the communist-friendly CIO federation of unions, and only few copies may have survived the McCarthy Era. Every track has an introduction by Tom with comments about lyrics and provenience of the songs.

From Wikipedia:
The Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO), proposed by John L. Lewis in 1938, was a federation of unions that organized workers in industrial unions in the United States and Canada from 1935 to 1955. The Taft-Hartley Act of 1947 required union leaders to swear that they were not Communists. Many CIO leaders refused to obey that requirement, later found unconstitutional.
Tom Glazer was a son of Russian Jewish immigrants. He moved to Washington, D.C. to take a job at the Library of Congress, where he met Alan Lomax. Glazer started his career as an amateur and was invited by Eleanor Roosevelt to perform at the White House. In 1943, Glazer had his public debut as a professional folk musician at the New York City Town Hall. In the first 20 years of his career, he gave over 600 concerts. Glazer's songs were recorded by Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Burl Ives, the Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul and Mary, Perry Como and Frank Sinatra. He was part of the folk music scene in New York in the 1940s, and with Lead Belly, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and Josh White helped prepare for the commercially successful folk revival of the 1960s.
