Diese Aufnahme der emotionsgeladenen Aufführung von Beethovens Neunter Symphonie durch das Ukrainische Freiheitsorchester in Warschau fängt einen der künstlerischen Höhepunkte des Jahres 2023 ein. Das Orchester wurde als kulturelle Gegenreaktion auf die brutale Invasion Russlands in der Ukraine gegründet. Ihr Beethoven hat die Besonderheit, dass der Text von Schillers großem Freiheitsgedicht „Ode an die Freude“ auf Ukrainisch gesungen wird. Dabei wird Schillers Eröffnungswort „Freude“ (Freude) als ukrainisches Wort „Slava“ (Ruhm) ausgetauscht, dass eine elektrisierender Wirkung transportiert in dem bewegenden Echo des gemeinsamen Widerstandsaufrufs der Ukraine angesichts der Aggression, Slava Ukraini! („Ehre sei der Ukraine!“).
