Ten original compositions (plus a tribute to Gershwin) that blend jazz, classical music, and Brazilian influences in a piano journey of rare elegance. Alberto Giraldi's new album, "The Way Things Turn – Piano Solo," is released by AlfaMusic. This intimate and refined work brings together ten pieces for solo piano, nine original compositions, and a tribute to George Gershwin. The album, distributed by Egea Distribution and digitally by Believe, represents the fulfillment of a desire that has accompanied Giraldi throughout his artistic life.

As Giraldi himself explains in the liner notes, writing for solo piano was a constant thought, but also a fearful confrontation: the piano tradition, from Mozart to Debussy, from Ravel to Keith Jarrett, commanded reverential respect. Then, on August 15, 2025, the creative spark was triggered: the first piece, "The Path of Life," paved the way, and within a fortnight, the other eight pieces were born. For the tenth piece, Giraldi chose to pay homage to one of the greatest American composers with his own interpretation of George and Ira Gershwin's "But Not For Me."

A fundamental source of inspiration was a course taught by Fred Hersch, a pianist Giraldi deeply admires for his ability to blend jazz and classical languages. The recording took place at AlfaMusic Studio, with the collaboration of Alessandro Guardia and Fabrizio Salvatore.
