It's all about vertical integration these days, right? If you're going to do a film about a pop star then you'd better have the album in the bag. The best selling album ever is 'K-Pop Demon Hunters', so the banks are gonna be sniffing around - even when it's an "indie" movie. So leave it to A24 to assemble the cool kids for their companion to 'Mother Mary', only a matter of weeks after Charli XCX released what's basically a full album to warm hearts and minds to Emerald Fennel's tepid rehash of 'Wuthering Heights'. And Charli gets a look-in here too, penning the album's lead single 'Burial', a track that sounds like FKA twigs covering a 'brat' b-side.

Because Hathaway seems to have cribbed her cadence from Gloucester's finest. We realize twigs wrote 'My Mouth Is Lonely For You' (alongside her regular spar Koreless, whose trancey fingerprints are plastered all over it), but it's alarming how similar Hathaway sounds. We're yet to see how the film plays out, but it's got Michaela Coel in it, so it can't be terrible. Until then, the soundtrack-cum-tie in album should tide us over.
