"Giant Box" is a double album by American arranger/conductor and composer Don Sebesky featuring performances recorded in 1973 and released on the CTI label. The Allmusic review states "This may have been Creed Taylor's most ambitious single project… Thankfully the musicmaking lives up to the billing. Everything that gave CTI its distinctive sound and identity is here – the classical adaptations, elaborate orchestrations and structuring, pop-tune covers, plenty of room for the star soloists to stretch out in a combo format… Giant Box still ranks as a sensational coup and a reminder of how potent CTI was at its peak".

"Super Nova" is the twelfth album by Wayne Shorter, recorded in 1969 and released on the Blue Note label. The album features five originals by Shorter and an arrangement of "Dindi" by Antônio Carlos Jobim. "Water Babies", "Capricorn" and "Sweet Pea" were originally recorded in a more traditional jazz setting in 1967 during the sessions with the Second Miles Davis Quintet that would be released in 1976 on the album "Water Babies". Chick Corea appears on drums rather than his typical role as a keyboardist.

Eumir Deodato de Almeida, also known as Eumir Deodato, is a Brazilian pianist, composer, record producer and arranger, primarily based in the jazz realm but who historically has been known for eclectic melding of big band and combo jazz with varied elements of rock/pop, R&B/funk, Brazilian/Latin, and symphonic or orchestral music.

"Light as a Feather" is one of the era's defining LPs, what many musicians have called a perfect album – the ultimate expression of the period's optimism. Its sheer, explosive joy surprised Chick Corea when he listened to it recently; he recalls in the liner notes searching then for a spiritual purity in his personal and creative lives. Even the band's name, Return to Forever, reflected his need to "deliver from inside" to "get back to the vision".

Live-Evil is an album of both live and studio recordings by American jazz musician Miles Davis. Parts of the album featured music from Davis' concert at the Cellar Door in 1970, which producer Teo Macero subsequently edited and pieced together in the studio. They were performed as lengthy, dense jams in the jazz-rock style, while the studio recordings were renditions of Hermeto Pascoal compositions. The album was originally released on November 17, 1971.

"The Rite of Spring" is an album by flautist Hubert Laws released on the CTI label featuring jazz interpretations of classical music compositions. The Allmusic review stating "Long before Wynton decided he could play classical chops as well as the real long-haired interpreters, even though he was a jazz musician, Hubert Laws and his partners at CTI gave it a run with a jazz twist, and for the most part with a far more adventurous repertoire".

One of the great CTI recordings of alltime with a lineup that simply plays some of the best modern jazz you will ever hear. It was recorded at the Van Gelder Studio in November 1971.

"Free" is an album by Brazilian jazz drummer and percussionist Airto Moreira (who was credited simply as "Airto") featuring performances recorded in 1972 and released on the CTI label. The album reached number 30 in the Billboard Jazz albums charts. The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow states: "The music combines together jazz, Brazilian music, and aspects of fusion and funk quite successfully".

"Fingers" is an album by Brazilian jazz drummer and percussionist Airto Moreira (who was credited simply as "Airto") featuring performances recorded in 1973 at Van Gelder Studio and released on Creed Taylor's CTI label. The album reached number 18 in the Billboard Jazz albums charts.

This album with the strange psychedelic sci-fi cover draws a tighter circle around Duke’s fusion language. The keyboard master ventures deep into his synthesizer laboratory. Duke shows himself to be a singer with a soulful sound. Shortly before this recording he had shelved his trombone so that he could communicate more directly with the audience, as can be heard in the hymnal, dreamlike title piece. The guest list of players make for an especially exciting concoction. No less than Duke’s playing companion Frank Zappa, under the cryptic pseudonym Obdewl’l X, performs some adventuresome guitar passages on “Love” and “Old Slippers”. On the California-sunshine pop samba, “Yana Aminah”, we have a surprise visit by Brazilian Flora Purim, wife of percussionist Airto Moreira, who opens up his bag of tricks on “The Once Over”, and plays on three more tracks.

One of Antonio Carlos Jobim's best-known albums, 1970's „Tide“ is a companion piece to 1967's „Wave“, a similarly lush and smooth collection for producer Creed Taylor's CTI Records. In fact, this album's lengthy title track is a theme-and-variations exploration of the main melodic line from WAVE's title track.

Infinita is the debut solo album from guitar virtuoso Lawson Rollins member of the acclaimed latin guitar group Young & Rollins. Featuring the legendary Brazilian singer Flora Purim and percussion superstar Airto Moreira as well as producer/musician Shahin Shahida of the chart topping group Shahin & Sepehr, multi-platinum producer Dominic Camardella, Grammy winning violinist Charlie Bisharat, bassist Randy Tico, trumpet player Jeff Elliot and drummer Davo Bryant among others. Infinita draws from an eclectic mix of Latin and Middle Eastern influences woven together with Lawson's Spanish tinged guitar style.

"Breakout" is an album by jazz organist Johnny Hammond recorded for the Kudu label in 1971. The album was the first release on Creed Taylor's Kudu label, a subsidiary of CTI Records and is the first album that dropped Johnny "Hammond" Smith's surname.

Gary McFarland was an influential composer, arranger, vibraphonist and vocalist, prominent on Verve and Impulse! Records during the 1960s, when he made "one of the more significant contributors to orchestral jazz". This album, recorded in September 1969, features Top-of-the-pops instrumental covers of "My Cherie Amour", "Everybody's Talking", some background bossa nova and a criminally wasted cast of all-stars: Hubert Laws, Curtis Fuller, Sam Brown, Ron Carter, Grady Tate and Airto. McFarland's cover of the Beatles' "Get Back" is excellent though.
