"The Last In Line" is the second studio release by the heavy metal band Dio. This is the first Dio album to include former Rough Cutt member Claude Schnell.

Recorded at London's Hammersmith Apollo on 12th December 1993 this previously unreleased concert film captures the then newly reformed Dio on the last night of their European tour in support of the Strange Highways album. With a line-up of Ronnie James Dio (vocals), VinnyAppice (drums), Jeff Pilson (bass) and Tracy G (guitar) the band delivered a blistering performance on tracks from their new album, previous Dio classics and favorites from Ronnie's career with Black Sabbath and Rainbow. Rainbow (also known as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow or Blackmore's Rainbow) are a British rock band led by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, active from 1975 until 1984, 1993 until 1997, and 2015 until present. They were originally established with Ronnie James Dio's American rock band Elf, but after their first album, Blackmore fired the backing members and continued with Dio until 1979. The band's early work primarily featured mystical lyrics with a neoclassical metal style, then went in a more pop-rock oriented direction following Dio's departure from the group.

"Strange Highways" is the sixth studio album by the American heavy metal band Dio. After the short-lived reunion with Black Sabbath for the recording of the album "Dehumanizer" (1992) and the subsequent tour, Dio and Appice returned to Dio's solo group, hiring Tracy Grijalva as new guitarist. Former Dio bassist Jimmy Bain was to make a return to the band, but he was soon sacked by Dio and replaced by Jeff Pilson.

Black Sabbath's vocalist and drummer, Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice, broke off from Sabbath to form Dio with two others, Jimmy Bain and Vivian Campbell. The resulting debut album was loved by the press and went platinum in the US while also climbing up the charts in several other countries. In the US Billboard Top 200 Albums, it peaked at #56.

After playing a major role in five positively classic heavy metal albums of the late '70s and early '80s (three with Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and two with Black Sabbath), it seemed that singer Ronnie James Dio could truly do no wrong…
