The Bells of Basal Sliding was initially composed for a dance performance for the choreographer Kathryn Alter and presented in a pop-up dance performance space on east 7th street and avenue B in New York City in 2022. Since this original performance I reorchestrated the score and recorded it on many different modular and analogue synthesizers and had the Paris based saxophone player and Buchla specialist Francesco Geminiani join me on the piece. The work is intended to unfold as a slow reflection on the effect and complexities of our current climate reality and rising sea levels. This was discussed when creating the piece with Alaskan native Kathryn Alter.

This album explores the experience of foreigners in France. I see myself as belonging to a long genealogy of American artists who moved to Paris to escape the USA, a country that does not support its creators. Unlike my illustrious predecessors, I arrived in France during a pandemic that paralyzed the Parisian artistic scene.
