Part 2 of South African but Belgium-based singer Tutu Puoane's project with original songs based on poetry of her fellow South African artist/writer/poet/public figure/activist Lebogang Mashile. Featuring the world famous, grammy-winning Metropole Orkest (NL). This 2nd collection of 'poetry songs' was specifically arranged for Metropole Orkest by Belgian trumpeter/composer/arranger Bert Joris. The orchestra is conducted by American-Portuguese conductor Jacomo Bairos.

Nesrine is a very versatile singer and cellist. In keeping with the current zeitgeist, she combines influences from pop, rock, minimalism, and North African music. Originally trained as a classical cellist, she played in Daniel Barenboim's East Western Divan Orchestra and in the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana conducted by Lorin Maazel. However, started making increasingly frequent trips to other musical worlds. Nesrine can be described as a cultural allegory between East and West. She sings poetic lyrics in Arabic, English, and French. In 2018 her album Ahlam was released, which was received very enthusiastically by the international media. She has toured all over Europe and played in venues such as the Berliner Philharmonie, and made her debut at the Cello Biennale during the very first edition of CELLOFEST.

Collaboration in its purest form is something that features the two artists involved while drawing something out of each other that they never would have been able to pull off on their own. This is why I love doing it. It keeps my creative mind spinning and inspired. I did a short run of concerts a few years back that featured the Metropole Orkest, and we've discussed working on a project together ever since. I've never seen an orchestra who is so versatile in being able to play classical and also groove based music. I knew that we'd be able to capture something really special if I utilized them alongside my band.

British-Indian-American sitar player, producer, film composer and activist Anoushka Shankar shares her first live album since 2001’s Live At Carnegie Hall: Between Us… is her debut with German label LEITER and draws upon material from four solo albums, but also features one previously unreleased track. The record sees Anoushka Shankar maintain a long tradition of collaboration which began as a 13-year-old girl, when she started performing sitar alongside her father and teacher Ravi Shankar.

Many still see Louis Cole foremost as a drummer. nothing, Cole's fifth album and his third on Brainfeeder – released on 9th August 2024 – is bound to change that impression. Collaborating with the Metropole Orkest and Jules Buckley, he rejected the well-trodden path to orchestral renditions of his greatest hits and instead opted to compose a suite of brand new music for this project – bigger, bolder, and more expansive than ever. Yes, there are nods to his GRAMMY-nominated 2022 album Quality Over Opinion, but 15 of the 17 tracks included here are brand new. This is jazz. This is classical music. It's got that funk. You'll hear synths and loops. You'll hear a band and live drumming. There's a world class orchestra playing. Some pieces are ultra concise, whereas the sprawling ‘Doesn’t Matter’ surpasses the ten minute mark. To Cole, jazz has always been the one place where you can really let go of all expectations – on nothing, he is putting the music where his mouth is.
