A name like B.B. Driftwood might lead you to assume that the bearer is a good old Southern bluesman, and this SACD's title wouldn't change that impression. But Driftwood, whose real name is Bengt Skoghoft, is about as far from the Southern US as could be. Yet, listening to Southward Bound, one hears echoes of the South and the style of another Opus 3 artist, Eric Bibb - not a bad starting point. But Driftwood is definitely his own man. He wrote all the songs on this album, and unlike Bibb he adds a slight rock 'n' roll edge to his basic blues base. He also throws in a dash of gospel, country, and R&B. Along with the catchy tunes, these help keep the music fresh and interesting.

Dave Wilczewski was an American saxophonist living in Stockholm. Working with many groups on the road as well as in the recording studio, Dave was one of the most outstanding and coveted jazzsoloists in Sweden. He played with a melodic unique and personal style, which assembled many elements from different jazz and fusion areas. He has played on over 200 albums and in 2006, released his own album, "Room In The Clouds". This album is a mature and relaxed offering from a musician who is equally gifted as a player and writer. This distinctive recording will resonate with fans of the contemporary music scene and undoubtedly stand the test of time.

This is a conceptual album which is based on the Danish author H.C. Andersen´s dramaturgy of the story of "The Little Mermaid", and where the genre is soft jazz with colors Latin rhythms! Most delightfully, the entire album was a audience-less live recording in the Jarna Kulturhus’ Concert Hall with no post-recording dubbing. The result is a dynamically well-balanced work of art infused with high transparency and complex tonality. Though closely miked and hence cast effectively to the front and over the instrumentalists, Yamina’s voice never eclipses her band mates.

Peder af Ugglas is versatile Swedish guitarist/keyboardist/composer. He is mixed rock, jazz and various kinds of folk music. Autumn Shuffle is his first release for Swedish audiophile label.

Peder af Ugglas' second SACD for the Opus 3 label, and we are treated to a dozen more of his mostly roots music influenced small group forays. Even with the presence of some electric instruments and the occasional B-3, there is still an acoustic music sound to the pieces.

Hymne a l'univers is an album on Opus 3 Records from acclaimed organist Mattias Wager, whose previous release on Opus 3 Records was the best-selling album entitled Organ Treasures. The Stockholm City Hall is known around the world for housing the Nobel prize banquet. It is also home to the largest organ in Scandinavia. On this spectacular instrument, with its 10,400 pipes, Mattias Wager plays French music from the Thirties. The music, by Alain, Jolivet, Bonnal and Duruflé shows the scope and sheer creativity of its time, and its feeling of boundless musical possibilities. With its wealth of sound, the Stockholm City Hall organ is one of the few instruments that make it possible to really bring out all the colors in this repertoire. Additionally this is the first real recording of this organ, even though it was built in 1926, 3 years after the Stockholm City Hall was opened to the public.

Test CD 4 contains a generously varied selection of acoustic music from the Opus 3 catalogue, with advisers concerning special points to listen for on each track. Again like its predecessors, the new test record makes an enjoyable music sampler, all the more so as it includes no fewer than 17 tracks from 17 different Opus 3 titles, most of them recent releases.

The Omnibus Wind Ensemble's interest in Frank Zappa's music dates back to the beginning of the 1980s, almost from their very beginnings. Under the motto "From Mozart to Zappa", which also became the title of their 1st, widely acclaimed release on the Opus3 label, they have had many of Frank Zappa's compositions in their repertoire over the years.

Andrew Esmond Sheridan McGinnity was an English rock and roll singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known for his backing band The Beat Brothers that at one time featured members of The Beatles. Later in 2007 Tony came up to the Opus 3 Studio in Sweden and we recorded two songs together: “Tell Me If You Can” and “Indochina” – a song relating to his experience when he performed for the US soldiers in Vietnam during the 70-ties.

In this highly unusual recording, featuring the double bass as solo instrument, we hear music by the Italian composer Giovanni Bottesini and two Swedish composers - Erland von Koch and Lars-Erik Larsson. Soloist Thorvald Fredin is Professor of Double Bass at the Stockholm College of Music. A breezy presentation of double bass virtuoso Bottesini's second concerto for the instrument, originally written for performance by the composer himself coupled with his Elegia, testifies the present performers' technical mastery and musical understanding of this typically 19th century composition in which no opportunity is lost, in cantelineor runs, demonstrating the soloist's proficiency.
