Demonstrating a deep-seated flair for soul and R&B, Paul Simon recruited gospel backup singers and traveled to the Muscle Shoals Sound Studios to further refine the vibrant sounds he desired for There Goes Rhymin' Simon. Clearly, his instincts proved correct. Many rightly consider the iconic singer-songwriter's third album a masterpiece – one that, per critic Robert Christgau, "suggests a new grace and flexibility for the mass-pop mode, and invests small subjects and emotions with an almost luminous wit and awareness."

It generated three hit singles and it kept Paul Simon and the Graceland tour on the road for five years. Its music was heard across the globe. Today, its music and its reputation still reach generations of music enthusiasts yet so many are unaware of how pivotal that one album was during the 1980s, how it helped birth the idea of World Music and revived the career of one of America's most important songwriters. Graceland's 25th anniversary features the original album with bonus tracks including a unreleased tracks audio documentary produced in 2012 with Paul Simon discussing the writing, inspiration and recording of the song 'Graceland'.

Hearts and Bones is the sixth solo album by Paul Simon. It was released in 1983. The album was originally intended to be called Think Too Much, however Mo Ostin, president of Warner Bros Records, persuaded Simon to change it to Hearts and Bones. The album was written and recorded following the Simon and Garfunkel Concert in Central Park in 1981, and the world tour of 1982-1983. Some of the songs intended for Think Too Much were previewed on the tour, and Garfunkel worked on some of the songs with Simon in the studio, with an intention that the finished product would be a Simon and Garfunkel album. Ultimately, Garfunkel left the project early on, and none of his contributions were included in the final mix.

Somewhat of an oddity from Paul Simon's catalog, "Songs From The Capeman" is an interesting selection of songs from the Broadway production of "The Capeman", also by Simon. These selections are, however, performed by Simon along and not the original cast. This makes this album somewhat unusual and remarkable. There are traces of Doo-Wop and Latin music here making for a terrifically enjoyable experience.

The title of this 11-song collection says it all. "You're the One" is as understated as they come; this time out, Simon is a singer-songwriter, not a composer. As such, You're the One is more reminiscent of initial insular post-Simon & Garfunkel LPs like "There Goes Rhymin' Simon" and "Still Crazy After All These Years" than the expansive "Graceland". With no new lands to conquer, Simon has fashioned a collection whose appeal lies with its 11 crafty, catchy tunes, all of which are delivered with spirit and wit, particularly on the character-driven likes of "Pigs, Sheep and Wolves", "Darling Lorraine", and "Old".
