The FUCHSTHONE ORCHESTRA is anything but a conventional big band. Under the direction of the two musical masters Caroline Thon and Christina Fuchs and with an expanded line-up including violin, vocals and electronics, the 22 award-winning musicians represent the current state of contemporary large jazz groups. In the bandleaders' compositions, powerful tutti passages and brass sounds à la Maria Schneider alternate with moments of silence, interrupted by collective improvisations by smaller subgroups of the orchestra. The result is an impressive musical experience that makes full use of the variety of timbres and possible combinations of instruments.

Since its foundation in 2019, the FUCHSTHONE ORCHESTRA has established itself as one of the leading and most innovative large groups in Germany. in 2021 it was nominated for the German Jazz Award. in 2023, it released its debut album "Structures & Beauty" on ENJA Records and celebrated great success on its release tour. in 2024, the ensemble broke new ground with the invitation of media artist Claudia Schmitz. The pieces composed especially for "Live-Bewegtbilder" took them into a different genre and added a new dimension to their work. in 2025, they were nominated for the German Jazz Award in the "Large Ensemble of the Year" category for the second time.

The brilliant young vibraphonist and percussionist Evi Filippou is currently a guest artist with the orchestra. She inspires and enriches the orchestra's new program.

Rich in tonal colors, with brilliant arrangements and soloistic highlights, the FUCHSTHONE ORCHESTRA fascinates - clairvoyantly anchored in the present and at the same time visionary for the future. Exciting and touching, urgent and challenging. The more than 20 musicians, many of whom have already received awards and have been active in the jazz scene for a long time, form this outstanding ensemble, which takes the listener into new worlds of sound in an impressive way.
