In the November 2016 issue of Southwest Art we feature artists from the West and beyond. John Coleman and Eric Jacobsen both live in the West, but they approach art in very different ways. Coleman finds a shared or universal spiritual story through Native American imagery and renders works in oil, charcoal, and bronze, while Jacobsen captures the landscape and still lifes in canvases featuring loose brushwork, thick paint, and a spontaneity other artists admire. We also visit with two artists who make their homes in the East, Peter Fiore and Anne Blair Brown. Fiore, who elevates simple landscapes to something more profound, lately has been focusing his brush on the characters of individual trees that he visits and paints repeatedly, and Brown, well-known for her bar and café scenes pushes out of her comfort zone to explore work that evokes a sense of place, mood, and mystery. Read more about these four talented artists and explore their unique interpretations of the world in the November issue.

Also in this issue, we preview 15 art shows and art auctions from Texas to California.
