2013 in Brüssel ins Leben gerufen, avancierte die Formation Fugu Mango mit ihrem Mix aus dancefloor-tauglichem Indie-Pop und Afrobeats sowie den beiden bis dato veröffentlichten EPs »Juju« (2014 (EP) und »Mango Chicks« (2016) zu vielversprechenden und bereits hochgehandelten Newcomern der dortigen Indieszene.

Jetzt legt das Trio, das seitdem zahlreiche internationale Club- und Festivalgigs (Eurosonic, Le Printemps de Bourges, Paléo Festival) absolvierte und bereits gemeinsam mit den britischen Kollegen von Django Django auf der Bühne stand, sein höchst gelungenes Albumdebüt vor. Mit »Alien Love« belegt die Band jetzt lässig die Richtigkeit der in sie gesetzten Erwartung und überzeugt hierauf mit einem untrüglichen Gespür für perfekte Popharmonien und ebensolchem Gesang (im bester Fleetwood-Mac-Manier / USA-Phase), achtziger Jahre Electro-Vibes, sowie raffiniert verwobenen Beats.

Produziert und aufgenommen wurde das Album von Luuk Cox (aka Shameboy), der schon mit namhaften Acts wie Stromae, Booka Shade und Girls In Hawaii zusammenarbeitete. Abgemischt wurde »Alien Love« von Ash Workman (Christine And The Queens, Metronomy).
