Never The Bride are an English band founded in the early 1990s. The group is led by singer Nikki Lamborn (formerly known as Nikki Bentley) and keyboardist/guitarist/singer Catherine "Been" Feeney, who co-write the music. The band's sound incorporates classic rock, blues, soul, and country. They have supported musicians including The Who, Elton John, Roger Daltrey, and Paul Rodgers. The band claims that Daltrey praised Lamborn for having "the best female rock voice since Janis Joplin.

Four years after the release of their hardened sophomore effort, Beneath the Skin, Iceland's Of Monsters and Men returned with Fever Dream, a reinvigorated change of pace that gives the band a shimmering synth pop makeover. Stepping away from the folksy anthems that broke them across the globe, the quintet absorbed bright synths, programmed drums, and beat loops, resulting in a surprisingly satisfying hybrid.

Around the turn of the millenium, the humanitarian crisis through which we are passing tipped a threshold: climate refugees began to outpace war refugees. Some 25 million were displaced in 1999 due to famine, drought, and torrential storms. So enters Afro Yaqui Music Collective’s debut album, Mirror Butterfly: the Migrant Liberation Movement Suite, which dramatizes and musicalizes years of interviews and movement building with environmental and ecosocialist activists in Mexico, Syria, Kurdistan, and Tanzania.

The idea for these 33 piano pieces resulted from a commission for the international composition project “250 Piano Pieces for Beethoven”, initiated by Bonn-based pianist Susanne Kessel on the occasion of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday in 2020. 250 composers were each asked to compose a short piano piece inspired by Beethoven’s life and work.

Israeli born, NYC-based pianist and composer Daniel Meron is proud to announce the August 2nd release of his upcoming album “Embracing Wild” on Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit Records. On his fourth record as a band leader, Meron exposes a clear musical identity, a sound that is both adventurous and intimate. The album features drummer Felix Lecaros (Chile), bassist Pablo Menares (Chile), and vocalist Kéren-Or Tayar (US/Israel). Together, these artists deliver wonderfully impactful performances of Meron’s unique compositions which tie together themes, rhythms and other musical elements from an array of countries, regions and cultures.

The last of a series of showtune albums recorded by the trio of pianist Andre Previn, bassist Red Mitchell and drummer Shelly Manne finds the all-star group focusing on the music of West Side Story (Previn and Manne alternated leadership, and it was the drummer's good fortune to have the famous My Fair Lady album under his own name). This CD reissue has eight of the main themes from the famous musical, including "I Feel Pretty," "Maria" and "America." As usual, the melodies are treated respectfully yet swingingly, and Andre Previn in particular excels in this setting.

On his first Hausu Mountain release, M. Geddes Gengras builds a synthetic audio world to soundtrack the lonely deserted island paradise of your dreams. This is the most organic-sounding drone work he's recorded yet, with distant percussion throbbing away inside the lush, drifting synth textures, and little discernable difference between electronic and acoustic elements. Opening piece "Zoltan" faintly resembles a more new age version of some of Gengras' earlier work as part of the band Pocahaunted, and then "The Pump at the Way Station" is closer to Projekt-style ethereal space music, with dark, resounding echo chords and splashes of electro-acoustic ripples…

Seine musikalische Ausbildung begann Kamm schon im Alter von 6 Jahren. Als Mitglied und Solist der Augsburger Domsingknaben genoss er über mehrere Jahre hinweg eine professionelle, klassische Gesangsausbildung. Zudem nahm er privaten Klavierunterricht. Mit Beginn des Stimmbruchs orientierte sich Kamm musikalisch neu. Er gründete diverse Punk- und Rock-Bands, in denen er als Sänger und Gitarrist auftrat.

War is Roger Waters' great muse, the impetus for so much of his work, including the semi-autobiographical 1979 opus The Wall. The Final Cut, his last album with Pink Floyd, functioned as an explicit sequel to The Wall, but 1992's Amused to Death acts as something of a coda, a work where Waters revisits his obsessions – both musical and lyrical – and ties them together with the masterful touch of a mature artist…

Ernst Mosch wurde am 07.11.1925 im böhmischen Zwodau geboren. Bereits im Alter von 8 Jahren spielte er im Falkenauer Jugendblasorchester. An der Musikschule in Oelsnitz lernte er Geige, Flügelhorn und Posaune spielen. Nach dem Krieg wurde die Familie, wie alle Sudetendeutschen, aus der Heimat vertrieben. Ernst Mosch floh nach Bayern, wo er in US-Clubs für die amerikanischen Soldaten Jazzmusik spielte. Ab Ende der 40er spielte Mosch in verschiedenen Orchestern. Im Jahre 1956 stellte Ernst Mosch, bis dahin Mitglied des Tanzorchesters Erwin Lehn, erstmals sein eigenes Blasorchester, 'Die Original Egerländer Musikanten' zusammen. Neben den 'Egerländern' veröffentlichte Mosch zahlreiche Platten mit der 'Falkenauer Blasmusik', den 'Falkenauer Jagerbuam', dem 'Posthörndl-Duo' oder mit den 'Zittner Schrammeln'. Es folgten zahlreiche Gold- und Platinplatten, insgesamt 29 an der Zahl, sowie Tourneen in aller Herren Länder. Die Musik von Ernst Mosch war geprägt von der zeitgemäßen Interpretation von der Musik aus seiner alten Heimat, böhmischer Polkas, Walzer und Märschen. Stil-prägend waren neben seinem Gesang, zusammen mit dem Kollegen Franz Bummerl, die ausgefeilten Bläserarrangements.

Shostakovich was no child prodigy — he began piano lessons at nine — but success as a composer came early when his First Symphony, written as a graduation piece, was acclaimed in Leningrad at the premiere in May 1926. That said, there is some fine chamber music in Shostakovich's student output. Much of the Two Pieces for String Octet Op. 11 actually predates the First Symphony Op. 10, remarkably assured for an eighteen year-old. The Two Pieces for String Quartet on the other hand did not surface at all until 1984! Dedicated to the J. Vuillaume Quartet they give us the suggestion of a Shostakovich quartet sound circa 1931 — seven years before the real thing.
