Resonance Records is proud to announce the first official release of Wes Montgomery – In Paris: The Definitive ORTF Recording which captures the jazz guitar legend in concert during his only tour of Europe on the night of March 27, 1965 at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, France. Considered perhaps the greatest live Wes Montgomery performance ever, In Paris is being released in partnership with the Institut national de l’audiovisuel (INA) with remastered high-resolution audio transferred directly from the original tapes, and will mark the first time the Montgomery Estate will be paid for this recording, which has been available as various bootlegs since the 1970s. This is also Resonance’s second album released in partnership with INA in a series of ORTF recordings, following 2016’s critically acclaimed Larry Young – In Paris: The ORTF Recordings.

Get groovy, my little symptoms of the universe, because the writing’s in your eyes, but so’s the sunshine, and it rarely sounds brighter than when The Cosmic Dead get their jam jammy.

Twisted Wires & the Acoustic Sessions is the first acoustic studio album by American hard rock band Tesla. It was released on July 12, 2011. The album features two new tracks (“2nd Street” and “Better Off Without You”) as well as re-recordings of ten previously released tracks. Five of the tracks were recorded in 2005 with Tommy Skeoch on rhythm guitar. Tesla is an American rock band formed in Sacramento, California in late 1981 by bassist Brian Wheat and guitarist Frank Hannon Lead vocalist Jeff Keith, drummer Troy Luccketta, and guitarist Tommy Skeoch joined them by 1984. By 1986, the band had changed from its glam-derived sound to a 'rootsier' direction under a new name: Tesla.

In the Double Concerto Mutter is joined by a young Brazilian cellist, still in his twenties, named Antonio Meneses, another Karajan protege, I suspect, whose career didn't soar like Mutter's. It's touching that a grand maestro should give the spotlight over to two young colleagues. Meneses is unusually lyrical and rhapsodist in the cello part, plaing with chamber-music sensitivity and gorgeous tone (amplified out of porportion by DG's engineers, as is typical in this work). Mutter matches Meneses in sensitivity; overall the performance is slow and inward, perhaps too much so for its own good.

Third ECM recording by Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür. The Violin Concerto, written for Isabelle van Keulen, and the two orchestral works “Aditus” and “Exodus” are world premiere recordings. All are powerful experiences, reflecting the new physicality of Tüür’s compositions. Major performances of all three works have taken place in 2003, including the Violin Concerto at the London Proms (a major success). Tüür’s music continues to gain critical and popular acclaim, and this release is eagerly anticipated.

Telemann wrote instrumental concertos for all the wind instruments of his epoch – for example, for oboe and oboe d’amore and for transverse flute, recorder, and flauto pastorale. Since he could play most of these instruments, he wrote extremely idiomatic parts showing each instrument in a favourable light and simultaneously appealing to the instrumentalist. The concertos exhibit a wealth of varied (and often unusual) ensemble formations, concerto practices and forms. A one-of-kind cosmos of performance joy and fantasy spreads out in the Italian, French, German, and Polish styles, and it was because of its uniqueness that cpo set out on the adventure of a complete recording of Telemann’s wind concertos with La Stagione and the Camerata Köln.

The prodigiously gifted cellist brothers from Berne, Switzerland, in a rare duo programme - with première recordings of new music by Alexander Knaifel and Barry Guy, and compositions by Roland Moser, Thomas Demenga and Jean Barrière. As England's The Strad noted, 'Few are prepared for the sensational panache, dazzling virtuosity and sheer musicianship that characterises the Demenga brothers' playing.'

This double album consists in the reprint of the long OOP studio album from 2011, named "1000 Autunni", plus a second live album, recorded on 06/01/2013 at the AltrOck/Fading festival in Milano, Casa di Alex. Featuring also an unreleased tune, these live versions differ quite a lot from studio versions.
Paolo "Ske" Botta is in the band Yugen and also appeared on French TV's "This Is What We Do". If you are even remotely interested in sophisticated and complex eclectic prog then you can not go wrong with this. Everything about this just evokes musical ecstasy like few others can. What we have here is an amalgamation of many influences seamlessly fused together to create some strange yet beautiful sonic bliss…

This Commodore material culls out tracks from sessions headed by others, but which feature tenor saxophonists Chu Berry and Lucky Thompson. The Chu Berry cuts come from separate Roy Eldridge and Hot Lips Page sets. Hot Lips Page also led the group, which included the Lucky Thompson tracks heard here. Berry was killed at the age of 31 in a car accident. Although he spent most of his performing career in someone else's sax section, there's no telling what heights he might have reached if he lived longer. His version of "Body and Soul" on this album was recorded 11 months to the day prior to Coleman Hawkins', the man usually given the credit for "setting the saxophone free." Yet Berry was as improvisational as Hawkins would later be…
