This album marks the ninth release by this Florida based progressive rock unit. Formed in 1973 by Mark J. Dye, this CD pays homage to their most powerful influences. The all original compositions pay tribute to the groups, Focus, Supertramp, Kansas, Genesis, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Styx, Gentle Giant, The Alan Parsons Project, Yes, and King Crimson. Fans of these groups won't be disappointed. Elysian Fields faithfully pays homage to them while still retaining their own unique sound. The composition, "Childhood's End", is in memory of the three thousand people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and the soldiers who've given their lives to prevent it from happening again.

Ilmiliekki Quartet (roughly translates from Finnish as Quartet Ablaze) is an elite unit of the Finnish jazz scene, featuring trumpeter Verneri Pohjola, pianist Tuomo Prättälä, double bass player Antti Lötjönen and drummer Olavi Louhivuori, but released its last album as quartet in 2006 («Take It With Me», TUM). Since then the quartet accompanied vocalist Emma Salokoski on two albums.

Designed as a personal anthology of twentieth-century French music, Sounds and Fragrances is the new recording by pianist Janina Fialkowska. This affectionate journey in her musical memory evokes a vibrant portrait of Paris during the youth of Mrs. Fialkowska, while "Poulenc and Tailleferre were still very alive and the souls of Ravel, Debussy and Fauré were still ubiquitous".

The House of David was David "Fathead" Newman's comeback album of sorts, marking his first release after the end of his association with Ray Charles and a few years spent with his family in his hometown of Dallas. Organist Kossie Gardner, guitarist Ted Dunbar, and drummer Milt Turner support Newman's gritty "Texas tenor" sound, which captures the straightforwardness of R&B pop and the improvisational elements of jazz.

Peter Erskine's group is openly influenced by both Bill Evan's Vanguard trio and Paul Bley's trio circa "Footloose" and "Closer", and brings some of their values into the present tense. At the same time, it has its own distinct character and understanding of dynamics. "As it Is" features works written primarily by John Taylor, with Erskine also contributing material. The group has been heralded for their understated approach to music which is performed with a controlled sense of freedom and simple lyricism.

Pärt is one of the few composers to whom the term "new simplicity"- in itself absurd, and used both mistakenly and misleadingly - really applies. After a thorough study of medieval music, he arrived at a personal style which uses the minimum means to achieve a high degree of intensity. In view of the similarity to the structure of bell sounds, Pärt calls it "tintinnabuli style". By means of almost purely tonal structures - frequently broken triads and scales - Pärt creates an inner balance of form and harmony which can be understood in terms of his deep religious faith and inclination to mysticism.
