FOR LOVE OF YOU is a tribute to Clara Schumann, pianist and composer, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of her birth (9/13/1819).

Lola Bobesco: an admirable and great musician whose name is nowadays not as well-known as that of other important violinists of the 20th century. This might be attributed to the fact that you had to experience her live, on stage, where she was especially convincing. Her compelling and lively playing as well as the way she efficiently dealt with the kinetic energy of music made her audience listen with rapt attention. This is an extensive release which features Lola Bobesco. It contains three albums featuring violin concertos from the Baroque to the 20th century. Some of the recordings featured here are being released for the first time.

Carl Philipp Emanuel tells us of his father’s talent as a singer: ‘He had a good penetrating voice of wide range and good singing style.’ It is therefore not surprising that the three church cantatas for solo bass are among his most exquisite and personal vocal works. Singing voice and instruments enter into a special relationship in these pieces. The dense yet sensitive polyphony is filled with a warmth and tenderness that seems to bring us closer to Bach, who is otherwise so ‘hermetically closed’. The ‘I’ voice in the poems of cantatas BWV 56 and 82 becomes the composer’s voice. Bach’s solo cantatas are precious gems whose subtle beauties go straight to the listener’s heart.

Steam from overloaded factory smokestacks darken the sky, the infernal heat of a furnace spreads around and lightnings from moaning machine mouths set the atmosphere on fire - „Artificial Extinction“ is the acoustic cenotaph of a humankind executing itself in its madness – and the best and most diverse album in the band history. Since the debut “Odio Bajo El Alma” Hocico stand for destruction, for darkness and pure aggression. Their kind of industrial has always been dirtier and more venomous, without particulate filter, music, that can only be created by Mexican Devils. “Artificial Extinction” is the highlight in this evolution: The unique Hocico sound is evolved to an even more brutal sound between Dark’N’Bass and Aggrotech. Massively pounding beats and roaring accelerations show a band that found strength never known before.

Ernesto’s interests cover a wide range of sounds and he feels comfortable with acoustic projects as well as more experimental tones. He has been playing MIDI guitars for most of his career. A guitarist, composer and music producer, his style as a performer has proved difficult to label, since it reflects a broad range of musical influences (jazz, tango, South American folkore, rock). This familiarity with playing different genres has enabled him to participate as a recording artist in over seventy albums, including most notably his contributions for León Gieco and Alejandro Lerner, Calle 13, Julieta Venegas, Soledad, Jairo, Kepa Junquera, Axel, Miranda, Ariel Ramírez and Patricia Sosa, Peteco Carabajal, Litto Nebbia, Liliana Herrero, La Bruja Salguero, etc.

Henry Purcell's Fantazias for viol consort came late to the game; written in 1680 and modeled to some extent after the work of Matthew Locke, the parade had gone by for the viol consort. Despite the fact that the Fantazias and In nomines stood as Purcell's main achievement in the field of chamber music, they did not appear in print until 1959 and weren't recorded until Nikolaus Harnoncourt waxed the cycle for a Vanguard LP in 1965. By the time of the tri-centenary observance of Purcell's death in 1995, quite a few ensembles had joined the game with new recordings, and that year Jordi Savall and Hesperion XX entered the fray with an Astrée recording so outstanding that it was hard to imagine how one could surpass it.

Austrian coed-metal act Visions of Atlantis has been through a lot. With six studio albums since 2002, several lineup changes (including the sad death of vocalist Nicole Bogner to illness in 2012), to the point of the drummer being the sole original member… the band has been rigorously tested in a crucible in under two decades. Thankfully, with the arrival of new album Wanderers on 31 August, the lineup remains mostly intact since the previous album…

Most concerts in Central Park are an event, and Sheryl Crow designed hers to be an event with a capital "E," performing duets with Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Stevie Nicks, Chrissie Hynde, Sarah McLachlan, and the Dixie Chicks. Such a combination of superstar power and prestigious venue should have generated sparks, and perhaps it did in person, but as the record Sheryl Crow and Friends: Live in Central Park, it falls surprisingly flat. The set list is fine, boasting all the hits, good selections from The Globe Sessions, and several crowd-pleasing covers.
