Anne Paceo appears as one of the more brilliant young French drummers in France. Her subtile touch on drums and cymbals is very personal. She met pianist Leonardo Montana and bassist Joan Eche-Puig at the CNSM in Paris (National music school) as they were students. Triphase is the name of the album and the name of the trio. It that stands apart from the rest of today’s productions’s, the themes and melodies remains in your mind as soon you hear them. Much more than just another Trio, this is a brilliant mix of 3 souls and 3 characters offering a taste of Catalonia, Brazil and Africa. After years of obscurity, pianist Dorothy Donegan finally started to gain some recognition in the mid-1980s. A brilliant pianist whose playing often takes unusual and unexpected turns (she always keeps her bassist guessing), Donegan is fond of not only putting together unlikely medleys, but suddenly switching styles altogether. For this live session with bassist Jimmy Woode and drummer Norman Fearrington, Donegan mostly sticks to a modern mainstream style, but her song quotes are very surprising and she somehow makes a medley out of "Like Someone In Love," "Here's That Rainy Day," "For Once In My Life" (a la Erroll Garner) and "In the Mood."

To The Little Radio, which features interpretations of standards, and Live, which is based mostly on Lien originals, both present the trio on strong form. The 11 non-original pieces explored on this disc were recorded in Oslo last January, and showcase the trio's collective approach to standards. On the first piece, Lasse Färnlöf's "Grandfather's Waltz," Lien's harmonies reference Bill Evans' version. Jerome Kern's "Look For The Silver Lining" and Billy Strayhorn's "Chelsea Bridge" foreground the trio's by now intuitive interplay and, though minimalist, get deep into the essence of the melodies.

Concert in the Garden is orchestral jazz great Maria Schneider's proudest achievement and a revelation for fans of big band, as well as jazz subgenres beyond. Though she proved with earlier discs, such as 1994's bright, thoughtful Evanescence, that her ability to transport moods and atmospheres into fully recognizable and deeply meaningful musical whirls was more intricately developed than many current composers, the performances she teases from her musicians throughout Concert in the Garden are an even sturdier testament to a fierce talent.

Reissue with the latest 2014 DSD remastering. Comes with liner notes. Louis van Dijk, also spelled Louis van Dyke (born 27 November 1941 in Amsterdam, North Holland), is a Dutch pianist. He was educated as a classical piano-player and like so many other jazz musicans he became fascinated by the instrument in church. His father was sexton in the Prinsessekerk in Amsterdam. He studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory and became interested in jazz. For young jazz musicians the Loosdrecht festival was a usefull leg to success.

This box set gathers the finest vocal recordings (opera, sacred music) from the Vivaldi Edition by some of the most reputed artists of today. Also it features the main vocal ranges: soprano, mezzo-soprano, contralto, tenor, bass.

"Bach saved my life… You always feel in his music that God is present somehow." This is not empty declamation. It is a deep confession of harpsichord player Zuzana Růžičková, a survivor of the inconceivable horrors of the Nazi concentration camps of Terezín, Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. She always felt that Bach's music was one of the things that helped her survive. In a certain way this is also true the other way around: Zuzana Růžičková gave new life to Bach's music by persistently promoting the use of harpsichord (as opposed to commonly used piano) in performing Bach repertoire in concert.
