At times albums are born out of an explosion of creativity. At other times they are a sort of musical distillation of ingredients, carefully selected and combined to create a tasteful and sensitive sonorous balance. Ones and Zeros is a successful mixture of musical colours. A project that has evolved over years, lending itself to the contributions of musicians of very different musical and cultural backgrounds, each one leaving their own very personal touch on the project. Ones and Zeros is the second solo album of Saro Cosentino. Already active on the electronic and musical fronts, with Ones and Zeros, Saro has widened his musical boundaries to encompass a fuller and more organic conception.

"Mike" Sanchez is a rhythm and blues singer, pianist and songwriter of Spanish-English heritage. Sanchez is known for his work with the Big Town Playboys and Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, and for his solo career. He is noted for his charismatic on stage presence and his encyclopaedic knowledge of the history and performers of rhythm and blues. Sanchez left the Big Town Playboys in December 1999 and pursued a solo career, although his debut solo album Just A Game was cut and released in 1997 while still with the Big Town Playboys. In 2001 Sanchez became a member of Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings (replacing pianist Gary Brooker).

The highlights from the upcoming Box-Set The Later Years. The Later Years 1987–2019 is an 18-disc compilation box set by Pink Floyd, set for worldwide release on 13 December 2019 by Pink Floyd Records. It follows 2016's The Early Years 1965–1972 and concentrates on the post-Roger Waters era covering the studio albums A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987), The Division Bell (1994), and The Endless River (2014).

Much of this CD is at a quiet volume, but the music is full of tension and inner excitement, with repetition used very effectively. Filled with memorable folk melodies that flow logically (the jubilant main theme of “Infancia” is a high point), the music is quite stimulating, often shifting moods gradually and coming up with unexpected twists.

Voyage 34, originally a two-volume EP series from 1992-1993, was expanded into "The Complete Trip" after Steven Wilson remixed and added production for its eventual re-release seven years later. Documenting the ill effects of an acid trip by a frequent user (the first 33 were fine), the four-phase work begins with a straight-laced narrator explaining the events leading up to the trip, with straight-ahead (though slightly exploratory) guitar work by Wilson over a mid-tempo drum section…

With an authority developed over two decades on the circuit, Partisans are proud to unleash their first live album, Nit De Nit, recorded at London’s Vortex Club. Across this rezzed-up hour-plus of back-catalogue reinventions and new delights, electric guitarist Phil Robson, saxophonist Julian Siegel, electric bassist Thaddeus Kelly and drummer Gene Calderazzo command the stage with inimitable joie de vivre.

F & M (an abbreviation of Frau und Mann; German for "Woman and Man") is the upcoming second studio album by German-Swedish super-duo Lindemann. It will be released on 22 November 2019 through Universal Music and Vertigo Berlin. The album has been preceded by three singles; "Steh auf", "Ich weiß es nicht" and "Knebel", with "Steh auf" peaking at No. 8 in Germany. Vocalist Till returns to singing in German language on this album unlike the debut album 'Skills In Pills' which he sung entirely in English.

One of smooth jazz's brightest young keyboardists seems to be caught in the same marketing trap as his contemporaries – aiming to please radio programmers first, and waiting till very late in the running order of the disc to challenge himself – and listeners who have many other new and similarly likeable keyboard releases to choose from. When he finally blows his lid on Secrets and goes for broke, it's a joyous affair, as the eight-minute closing track "At the Backroom" finds Brian Culbertson jamming hardcore blues/funk and bouncing off the inspirations of older cats like Jeff Golub (guitar) and Ricky Peterson (wicked on the Hammond B-3).

A vibes player who had learned at the feet of Cal Tjader, then recruited a band of Latin virtuosos, Bobby Paunetto recorded a gem of Latin jazz with 1968's El Sonido Moderno: The Modern Sound of Bobby Pauneto. Although Latin crate diggers may know Paunetto's name from the uptempo-but-jazzy dancefloor chestnut "Why Is Woody Sad?," the LP is a far more subdued affair, trading on Paunetto's fluid solos along with a few vocal turns from Willie Torres (a favorite go-to singer in salsa circles) and a pretty fair band.

For his second "solo" album, Carlos Santana used Miles Davis' famed '60s group — Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams — plus members of the current Santana band, for a varied, jazz-oriented session that was one of his more pleasant excursions from the standard Santana sound.

The collection Le nuove musiche by Giulio Caccini, also known as Romano, was published in Florence by Marescotti in 1602. Caccini’s music embodies the new way of composing and of singing. The author writes in his extensive indications to readers “not to esteem that sort of music which does not allow the words to be understood, and spoils the concept and the verse sometimes by lengthening and sometimes by shortening the syllables to fit the counterpoint, a laceration of the poetry”. The world prevails on music and this spirit remains in this beautifully programmed CD by Claudine Ansermet and Paolo Cherici.
