In questa versione CD DELUXE HARDCOVER BOOK sono presenti anche due versioni di "Settembre", quella originale cantata da Ivano Fossati e una versione inedita interpretata da Mina. Mina e Fossati insieme, per un nuovo album di inediti. I due protagonisti della musica italiana, da tempo lontani dalla ribalta, per la prima volta uniscono le loro voci in 11 brani inediti, scritti e composti da Ivano Fossati e cantati da Mina e Fossati, che tornano a collaborare in un'occasione unica. "Dopo otto anni la mia decisione non cambia: non torno a fare dischi né concerti, ma per niente al mondo mi sarei negato la gioia di scrivere questo album. Nessun musicista sano di mente direbbe no a Mina" - racconta Fossati a proposito dell'amicizia che lo.

John Surman (on baritone, soprano, bass clarinet and synthesizer) meets up with drummer Jack DeJohnette (who also plays congas and electric piano) for this typically introspective and spacy ECM set. Surman's playing (especially on baritone and bass clarinet) during nine group originals is worth hearing.

‘Lorenzo sulla luna’ è il titolo del nuovo progetto che ripercorre la storia della musica italiana attraverso le più belle canzoni italiane dedicate proprio alla luna e re-interpretate da Jovanotti. Un omaggio che arriva a cinquant'anni dalla missione dell'Apollo 11 e che vede l'importante produzione di uno dei più grandi guru del panorama musicale mondiale, Rick Rubin, proprio lui che con Lorenzo ha già collaborato più volte: prima sul disco del 2017 ‘Oh, Vita!’, poi sul singolo attualmente in rotazione radiofonica ‘Prima Che Diventi Giorno’ ed estratto dall'EP ‘Jova Beach Party’. ‘E' il disco più notturno che io abbia mai fatto […] sono molto contento e sorpreso da questo lavoro e non era nemmeno detto che sarebbe uscito perché frutto di un mio trip personale’, afferma Jovanotti. Un progetto che ha visto la luce in soli sette giorni nello studio Shangri-La di Malibu (California): ‘è imperfetto eppure c'è ancora molta strada da fare per l'imperfezione assoluta a cui aspira il mio sentimento artistico’. Di buono sicuramente c'è che la luna resterà in orbita ancora un po', tale da lasciarci il tempo di ascoltare ben 11 pezzi e tornare a…sognare!

Surman is a musician of gentle persuasion and even gentler philosophy. One can always count on an immersive experience, Such Winters of Memory being but one carefully brushed example. And while one may be hard-pressed to see into the autobiographical details of these titles, at least in their articulation one gets an immediate sense of the environments they so meticulously render into graspable sound.

Singer Jeanine Mackie has been working the Toronto club scene for many years. In fact, she fronts her own R&B band. But there's more to Ms Mackie than meets the eye, or the ear as it were. Because she's also a marvelous, cool-toned jazz singer - and that's the talent on display on "The Night We Called It a Day," Blue Martini Jazz's debut album.

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Dee Dee Bridgewater chose to record a tribute album to Billie Holiday. In quick succession beginning in the mid-'90s Bridgewater cut tribute albums to Ella Fitzgerald, Horace Silver, and Kurt Weill, and prior to that, in the late '80s, she was nominated for an award for her one-woman star turn in a European theater production of Lady Day, the Holiday story. That Bridgewater would eventually turn to Holiday (whose given name of Eleanora Fagan explains the title) for an album-length exploration was almost a given – it was just a question of when. It's one of her grandest efforts, too.

Veteran photographer Brian Smith has good reason to remember the night of 3 April 1965 that R&B legend Johnny “Guitar”’ Watson played Manchester’s Twisted Wheel club, with sidekick- Larry Williams, “It was the first time I took out my wife [39 years married, last June] - though I still stuck to the job in hand and buggered off to the ‘Wheel All-Nighter’ after I had put her on the bus home. I got a few decent black and whites on at Twisted Wheel, and then a couple at the Princess Club, same week: on stage, and some posed too.”
