Exit… Stage Left is a live album by Canadian band Rush, released in 1981. The album was voted 9th best live album of all time in a poll by Classic Rock Magazine in 2004. The original CD issue removed "A Passage to Bangkok", as CDs could only hold 75 minutes at the time. It was included on the 1997 remaster, as CD capacity had increased to 80 minutes by that time.

Prior to the release of this, the earliest Magma shows that could be found on the tape collector circuit were mostly from the 1973-74 period (although a partial show from Metz in 3/72 exists). So this recording from 11/71, featuring what is probably the earliest recorded live performance of their classic "Mekanïk Destruktïw Kommandöh" (an earlier version from 8/71 on the Puissance 13+2 sampler was essentially a studio recording), comes as a complete surprise, especially given the good sound quality herein. Fans of the first two albums will find plenty of that material here, in a live and somewhat rawer form.

First ever live album from Khruangbin recorded over two nights at Lincoln Hall in Chicago. The six songs last almost 40 minutes and include the 11 minute plus centrepiece People Everywhere. The Houston-based almost instrumental trio craft a unique, psychedelic vibe that hangs between continents and eras. Their sound is sprinkled with snippets of spoken word, faint vocal melodies, and ranging and impeccably performed guitar solos. It's super relaxed, smouldering and full of motionless contemplation - even in a live situation. Simply stunning.

Richard Jones's radical new production of Lohengrin was the talk of the 2009 Munich Festival. It was also a triumph for Jonas Kaufmann in the title role. Die Welt added that they "could not think of any cast more perfectly matched, so youthfully enthralling, in short: so wonderful … ". With striking costumes and designs by Ultz - and directed by Maestro Kent Nagano - it represents a bold new Lohengrin for today's world.

In 1992, The Dixie Dregs reformed after a decade-long hiatus while various members pursued solo gigs. The Dregs were perhaps the truest form of fusion, mixing more than just jazz and rock; they threw in classical and bluegrass/country for good measure. The classic lineup booked a few gigs, with the exception of bassist Andy West. In his place is Steve Morse's bass virtuoso Dave LaRue, who is unquestionably more talented than Andy. The result is one of the best albums of fusion, live or otherwise.

These are stormy, full-blooded performances of Schumann. The young Norwegian trio gives the D minor all the dark urgency of a late Brahms work. In the sunnier, beautifully shaped F major, it is again unafraid to push its expressiveness to the limits. One slight disappointment was the magical moment in the first movement when the cello plays a pianissimo melody and is then joined by the violin, as at a distance, here spoiled by Sølve Sigerland’s querulously wide vibrato. Compared with a classic recording, such as the Thibaud-Cortot-Casals, the tempi are swift.

Two obscure but very enjoyable and complementary former Lps are reissued in full on this generous CD. The first half of the disc is primarily a showcase for trumpeter Clark Terry who is joined by Mike Simpson (on tenor and flute) in a sextet. C.T. sounds a bit more influenced by Dizzy Gillespie at this time than he would but he was already quite distinctive on such numbers as "Candy," "Blues For Daddy O's Jazz Patio Blues" and "Basin Street Blues." "Phalanges" is a hot bop line (by Louie Bellson) that deserves to be revived while "Trumpet Mouthpiece Blues" sounds like an ancestor of "Mumbles."
