Paquito D'Rivera's second recording as leader of the United Nation Orchestra features a live concert from 1997. By then the ensemble (which was Dizzy Gillespie's last big band) did not display that distinctive a personality and was clearly missing the late trumpeter. However, it still had plenty to offer including such players as trombonists Conrad Herwig and William Cepeda, guitarist Fareed Haque, trumpeter Diego Urcola, and, of course, its leader. Most of the material on the CD is from bandmembers but the three most memorable selections originated elsewhere: Emiliano Salvador's "Puerto Padre," Gillespie's "A Night in Tunisia," and Ernesto Lecuona's "Andalucia Medley," which is taken as a clarinet-bass duet.

Dame Joan Sutherland and tenor Alfredo Kraus star in Donizetti's tale of sixteenth century opulence and decadence. Joan Sutherland is unquestionably the unsurpassed Lucrezia of all-time, and this production at Covent Garden showcases her incomparable coloratura technique. Bel canto specialist Richard Bonynge conducts The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in this historic performance.

Attack featured John Du Cann who went on to greater success with Andromeda, Five Day Straw People, Atomic Rooster, Hard Stuff and as a solo artist. The CD collects singles from across the band's career including Color of My Mind, a hard driving slice of psych genius (see Rubble and numerous other collections). Early on, the band covered Try It (Standells) and experimented with Kink's Village Green era whimsy but, when Du Cann arrived, it was Cream/guitar driven power pop/rock.

A version of Ævangelist created by Matron Thorn in late 2018 after the status of the original Ævangelist became disputed. Matron Thorn claims that this iteration is the true version of the band, while the vocalist of the previous iteration Ascaris claims that the band is now split up.

This is a very rare CD with Phil Woods that yet only was released in Japan. Probably one of the more unusual recordings in Phil Woods' considerable discography, Greek Cooking features the alto saxophonist leading a tentet with a distinctly Greek flavor, including four Greek musicians. None of them have become household names in jazz, though oud player George Mgrdichian later sat in with the Dave Brubeck Quartet during a few concerts.

Emil von Sauer's piano works mark the twilight of an era in which the composer-pianist was still in fashion. Sauer, Godowsky, Rachmaninoff, Busoni and Paderewski were just a few of the reigning titans who frequently played their own compositions on the concert stage. The music of most of these composers has unfortunately fallen out of vogue today. However, turn of the century audiences enthusiastically applauded, demanded even, these works, if not during the actual programmed recital then afterwards as encores. Sauer was born in Hamburg and died in Vienna. His first piano lessons were from his mother.

Italian-American sextet Ghost Horse's debut record Trojan was released on October 18th, 2019 as a double LP by groundbreaking Chicago-based underground electronic label Mathematics Recordings and on CD by Auand, Italy's most important contemporary jazz label.

In October 2017, the latest album of the Tri-City Almost Jazz Group quartet, founded in 2012 by Paweł Nowak and Ignacy Jan Wiśniewski, was released. "Fade Out", the band's third album, presents original compositions of all group musicians. Music on the album oscillates between moody, acoustic ballads and faster, swinging forms preserved in modern jazz grooves.

This disc has two strikes against it. It's a reissue and it's a mash-up of excerpts from various collections of short pieces, which means that the composer's original intentions are violated. But those two strikes hardly matter when the performer hits a home run with every piece. Russian pianist Sviatoslav Richter, through the sheer strength of his virtuosity, sensitivity, intensity, and poetry transforms this disparate collection of Rachmaninov's Études-tableaux, Opp. 33 and 39, and his Preludes, Opp. 23 and 32, into a cogent and compelling artistic statement.

But in its title and scope, it also seeks to focus attention on the interconnectedness of all living species and the responsibility we hold as human beings to coexist in harmony with our environment, and to protect the beauty, fragility and welfare of our planet, and each other.
