Formed in the late 90’s in the heart of Barcelona, the band released their first album “VENGUE” nearly two decades ago in 2000. The original collective grew and evolved, embarking on a pioneering voyage that led to the creation of a new genre, and achieving great success with its own independent record label and self-management philosophy. With flamenco as an ever-present core, their albums are infinite excursions into a world where ancient rhythms fuse with modern sensibilities and styles: from India to the Americas, crossing Africa and every corner of the Mediterranean on the way, also drinking from the waters of funk, rock, jazz, hip hop, and electronic music.

This DVD shows an impressive staging of Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti filmed at the opera house in Genoa, directed by preeminent opera director Graham Vick, conducted by renowned opera conductor Patrick Fournillier and sung by an all star cast - Marcelo Álvarez hailed as one of the hottest tenors on the international scene and Stefania Bonfadelli frequent guest on the stages of the world‘s greatest opera houses and celebrated by audience and critics alike. In this staging, Graham Vick concentrated all his attention on the performers and employed the simplest of means to create spaces representing the atmosphere of the scenes rather than concrete physical locations for them. In spirit, therefore, his production remains loyal to the libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, the music by Gaetano Donizetti and their concentration on the story’s essentials, focussing as closely as possible on the passionate engagement of Lucia, Edgardo and Enrico.

If you like strings, consider Karenautas, a 14-piece outfit featuring five violinists, four cellists, and two double bassists – with a singer, clarinetist, and drummer completing the lineup. And Karenautas are from Argentina, so if you like tango…well, actually, don't expect any Piazzolla on Recreo, Karenautas' 2012 debut album, and clarinetist Martín Rur has suggested in an interview that listeners shouldn't regard the group as devoted primarily to Argentina's musical heritage. Instead, Rur noted the influence of Ravel, Debussy, and Bartók, but there are also non-classical touchstones, and even a big Argentine one: Recreo is dedicated to the late Luis Alberto Spinetta, a giant of Argentine rock who died in February 2012, not long after the album was recorded.

The two albums I.F. and I.F. 2 (short for Intergalactic Federation) Deep Space Network made with fellow German artist Dr Atmo for Fax Records feature longer tracks, offering a bigger canvas for Moufang and Grossmann to work on. These are true collaborations with Atmo - a lover of shadowy, cosmic Eastern melodies and percussion - where the whole ends up greater than the sum of the parts.

The Flying Lesbians were a seven-woman German music group which existed from 1974 to 1977 and released an eponymous album in 1975. The album - as indie music production - ran very well, with ca 17.000 LP's sold. The Flying Lesbians functioned as a co-operative, wrote the lyrics in German and English, and composed all songs by themselves. For copyright purposes they worked under the joint pseudonym of "Emily Pankhurst".

Akihisa Tsuboy (Violin) & Natsuki Kido (Guitar) duo. Akihisa Tsuboy is a member of KBB, Ausia, String Arguments, and is a new member of Pochakaite Malko. Natsuki Kido has recorded with such bands as Bondage Fruit and Korekyojin. Stylistically, their duo works depart from these other credits and form something quite special and distinct.
