On 17 May, Blue Note/UMe released The Complete Birth of the Cool, documenting the huge creative and cultural importance of the Miles Davis Nonet. The collection marks the 70th anniversary of the initial sessions for the Birth of the Cool album, released in 1957 as a collection of recordings from 1949 and 1950.

Second release by Japanese progressive/symphonic rock band. "MASHEEN MESSIAH" formed as a "machine shop" to fully reproduce the famous board "Drama" of YES in 2002. It sublimates further to the original band by members who succeeded the live. Initially it was 90125 YES, a style that let you listen melodies remaining in impression with progressive hard routes affected by IT BITES, GENESIS, UK etc, along with dramatic arrangement / development. However, Tsuruma of the 2008 bassist joined for the purpose of further improving the band. Along with that, the band name was renamed "MACHINE MESSIAH" (Machine · Messiah). "Well, we would call ourselves primarily a prog rock band. But we believe the songs we write and play are more easy-to-listen-to with catchy melodies and dramatic arrangements. It would be great if a broader range of music fans get to like our music."

"Playing God" is a very special album featuring Isgaard's outstanding voice (from fragile to poweful and bright like Kate Bush). Score is the debut album by American jazz trumpeter Randy Brecker recorded in 1969 and originally released on the Solid State label. Randy Brecker's debut album features the trumpeter leading two distinct all-star small groups, each with younger brother Michael (who was only 19 when this was recorded) on tenor sax, Larry Coryell on guitar, and Hal Galper on piano. The tunes alternate between jazz-rock (a style the Brecker Brothers were later to successfully exploit) and modern mainstream jazz. There are the customary fades, popular at the time, and a light, though constant, beat throughout that makes the music both accessible and even danceable, an impressive feat considering that virtually all the tunes are originals. The Brecker Brothers exhibit a command of their horns and a maturity that was to serve them well for many years.

Legendary industrial pioneers Ministry have just announced a new live album entitled Chicago/Detroit 1982, which will feature many rare Wax Trax Era songs. This compilation will mainly focus on the group’s work prior to 1983, when they released their debut album With Sympathy on Arista Records. These songs were previously released on Trax! Box, a compilation box set which featured many of the band’s singles from this era in music. According to the website for this set, this new album is “A vintage live performance of Ministry from their early synth pop days!”
