Bass!is the 1989 album by British producer Simon Harris. The CD was released by Music Of Life/ffrr and features the hit songs "Here Comes That Sound", "Bad On The Mic", "(I've Got Your) Pleasure Control", "Another Monsterjam", and "Bass (How Low Can You Go)".

Depending on where you are and what your listening habits were in the late 80's/early 90's, you know England's Simon Harris for a few reasons. Some will know him for the cut & paste track "Bass! (How Low Can You Go?)", which fit in very well with M|A|R|R|S' "Pump Up The Volume" and Bomb The Bass' "Beat Dis". Others may know him for his club oriented tracks such as "Here Comes That Sound" or "(I've Got Your) Pleasure Control". Some may know him as the man who put Asher D & Daddy Freddy and Derek B. into the spotlight. Or perhaps his string of breakbeat albums that became a poor man's way of finding breaks, beats, and loops. They were used, for the pops and crackles heard on these breaks were heard in those that used them for their own songs.

All of these things lead to the release of his debut album, 1989's Bass. The album combined hip-hop, dance, club, house, breaks, and more. It was chock full of samples before the sample police had taken over.

For whatever reason, Simon Harris did not become a huge household name outside of the UK, but this album stands out as a sign of what he was able to do, and the influence he had on hundreds of other artists who now proudly stand in his shadow.
