Aja Soul Group - Territory (2017)

The band, whose debut album was released in 2010, now includes Benny Omerzell at the keys, Stephan Rheintaler at the E-Bass, Christian Eberle at the drums, the guitarist Toni Eberle, and above all Aja - a vocal, with incredible timing, Multi-facetted and multi-colored souljazz singer, who meets her audience with a powerful expression and a strong vocalist.

With the title "Territory", the quintet was at the beginning of its musical territory. The musicians developed a personal soul position, which stands out from the current, all too sweet, smoothed and courageous soulpop. So they worked radio, refined, partly laid back, partly carried away, partly tricky or also straight played rhythms, striking licks and fine-minded songwriting. Original chord reeds, jazzy harmonies, unison passages between guitar and voice as well as slightly oblique sound and sound ideas rounded off this unmistakable singing.

The outstandingly well-performed band offered this style with an incredible flow as well as a directness and subtle roughness, which emanates from many more recent bands; One knows such a direct musical expression, developed with great skill, from the early albums of Merry Clayton.
