Whoever claims to be a musician in the 21st century wants to make a name for himself, must first of all be adaptive, always deliver something different, new - at the cutting edge of time - and, as in the financial sector and the economy, a certain flair, have an anticipation for future trends. The one who succeeds in doing so does not write his songs by any means, and basically has little freedom of decision, no possibility of individuality.

Then, in return, there are also those musicians whose main attention is in life the thing-in-itself - the music, making music - which mostly write their own texts and also take the composition into their own hands. Artists, whose sounds somehow mean something to everyone, even if they should never have the claim to be mass-perfect, precisely because their music originates from their own heart blood and is unique in their own way - as with Bad Temper Joe.

This name has long since become a connoisseur of the contemporary German blues scene, but one can still admire the virtuosic acoustic performance on the Weissenborn lap-steel guitar, traditionally, reminiscent of the blues of the Bluescombos in the 1920s. But so many years back in the retrospective, Bad Temper Joe does not really predominant, as his fifth studio album "Bad Temper Joe and his Band" - the already second in 2017 - clearly, clearly, and above all loudly, proves. This time he made his promise "I'm gonna get me a rock 'n' roll band […]", which was released on the predecessor "Solitary Mind", released in February, and is now available in the entire width and variety of an electric band, consisting of various guitars, harmonica, bass and percussion - and also independently recorded in their own work and mixed together.

The influence of Bob Dylan on Bad Temper Joe's music can not be denied this time, as three interpretations of the works of the Maestros illustrate in an interesting way. Even if her performer has been inspired in many different past decades such as the 50s, 60s and 80s of the last century, "Bad Temper Joe and his band" does not mean imitation of known, past sizes, as well as analogous distorted studio sounds, but contemporary, contemporary music, which convinces with sound power, quality and purity.

If you like blues, call it blues, who likes Americana or country, who call it Americana or country, who likes to listen to rock, who calls it rock - good music does not necessarily have to be assigned to only one genre! In any case, one thing is definitely said: no four hundred and sixty-six words replace a first, second or even a tenth listening experience.
