Pan were a Danish prog/psych/blues rock band from the early 1970s consisting of musicians Robert Lelievre, Thomas Puggaard-Müller, Henning Verner, Arne Würgler, Michael Puggaard-Müller, and in the group's 2nd incarnation: Jens Elbøl, Torben Enghoff, and Nils Tuxen. Several of these musicians are still playing regular live shows in various different bands, such as Troels Jensen & Kenn Lending Blues Band, Somanden Og Stjernerne, and Survivors.

The Beefeaters were a Danish garage rock band active from 1964-1971.

A precursor to this band was formed in Copenhagen in early 1964, but their strong orientation towards blues-rock began only with the arrival of Peter Thorup in 1966. In 1967, The Beefeaters played as support band for Jimi Hendrix, John Mayall and Pink Floyd during their concerts in Denmark.

The Beefeaters produced two albums, Beefeaters (1967) and Meet You There (1969). Both albums were top-notch "real" blues-rock efforts to file along albums by John Mayall, early Fleetwood Mac and even Cuby & The Blizzards. The first album was, along with Steppeulvene, the most important Danish album of 1967. The Beefeaters weren't entirely blues purists either, they also displayed beat and soul influences. The sound (very well developed for 1967) was largely based on Thorup's talents as vocalist and guitarist, but Kjærumsgård's Farfisa organ (sometimes replaced by piano) obviously augmented the group’s sound. Burnin' Red Ivanhoe was one of many groups who later copied this distinctive organ sound.[1] In 1969, Povl Dissing left the group, which continued for a while longer with Ole Fick (from Burnin' Red Ivanhoe) as their lead singer. The post-Dissing group recorded the soundtrack to "Smil Emil", but no further vinyl output emerged

Danish 1960's to 1990's rock/blues band. When in the 80's joined by US guitarist Billy Cross (2) known as Delta-Cross Band. The original line-up at the time of the 1969 debut was: Troels Jensen, Michael Puggaard-Müller, Thomas Puggaard-Müller, Søren Engel. Shortly after the debut release, the Puggaard-Müller brothers left to form PAN (2). They were replaced by Preben Feddersen and Peter Høiler. This line-up released a single in 1971. In 1972 Feddersen left to form Buffalo (8), Søren Engel to play with Paddy Doyles. For the next year of the original line-up only Troels Jensen continued Delta Blues Band joined by Bent Malinovsky, Peter Kragh Jacobsen and Thor Backhausen. This line up backed Sunnyland Slim on a 1973 recording session. Later in 1973 the group reformed, now as just "Delta", with Jensen, Malinowsky, Kragh Jacobsen, Knut Henriksen and Max Nutzhorn, vocals. This group began recording an album, but after internal conflicts Nutzhorn and Henriksen took over the group and finished the recordings now as Fly United. In 1974 Troels Jensen re-organized Delta w. Kragh Jacobsen, Søren Engel and Billy Cross (2). Over the next period, several guitarist was involved with the group, but the core of the band was Troels Jensen, Søren Engel and Feddersen. In 1977 - as Delta - the group released a self-titled album. This line up with Billy Cross and Jørgen Lang released an album, "No Overdubs", ecorded in just 6 hours. The album kickstarted a revival for the band. The band reformed as Delta-Cross Band and for the next decade had a very succesful and popular career. After Cross left again performing by the original name.

Danish rock group founded in 1967 by Anders Koppel and Thomas Koppel with Annisette Hansen, Jens Rugsted, Flemming Ostermann, Alex Riel and Ilse Maria Koppel as a backing-project for a TV-show. Their debut as an established rock-group was in May 1968 on Plænen in Tivoli, Copenhagen.

The Savage Rose became rapidly popular in Denmark, but also to some extent abroad. Their lyrics were inspired by Bob Dylan, and the music was a mixture of classical music and US westcoast psychedelic rock, characterized by vocalist Annisette. In fall 1971 The Savage Rose became reduced to a trio on account of musical disagreements – The Koppel Brothers and Annisette wanted to change the musical style towards soul and gospel. The Savage Rose reorganized as a group in 1973, and recorded Wild Child, - but split up in January 1975.

The group reformed as Savage Rose in 1977 now with Danish lyrics, a strong political engagement and in opposition to the established commercial music industry. Through the 80s the group played in Palestinian refugee- and partisan-camps, in Albania and at many manifestations on the political left wing. In this underground period Savage Rose released eight albums (almost all on independent labels) – while living among the underprivileged of Copenhagen. Core members in this period were Thomas Koppel, Annisette and John Ravn.

In 1995 Savage Rose had their second commercial break-through with the album Black Angel – the first album in English for many years. The successor Tameless and subsequent releases were again released as The Savage Rose, while the band for a period lived in US. Even after the sudden death of Thomas Koppel in February 2006, The Savage Rose continued releasing and doing live performances.

As one of - if not the most successful and legendary rock bands in Danish rock history. Formed 1969 by Kim Larsen, Franz Beckerlee and Wili Jønsson. Shortly after Bjørn Uglebjerg joined. He was replaced by Søren Berlev in 1971.
Their first single, "Silky Sally", was in English, and did not become a hit - but their self-titled Danish language debut album however became a big success. Their major league commercial breakthrough came with the album "Gas 5" in 1975.
Gasolin' had their prime time from 1972 to 1978, and released 8 studio albums and two live albums in that period plus two English versions albums of their 3rd and 5th studioalbum. Their 1976 "Live Sådan" album is listed on the official danish national cultural treasure list, "Kulturkanonen"
In 1976 Gasolin' failed to break through in USA after releasing an English version of the record "Gas 5". This, and internal conflicts was the main reason for their split-up in 1978. Keyboardist Klaus Agerschou often appeared with the band in concert.
Kim Larsen simultaneously with Gasolin' played with his sidekicks Sylvester's Jukebox and Starfuckers (2) and released a solo album in 1973. Post Gasolin' he has had a solocareer just as succesful as that of Gasolin'. Franz Beckerlee, who was a jazz saxophonist in the 60's, e.g. with Contemporary Jazz Quartet, The, released one solo album post Gasolin' but also worked with writing and painting. Berlev and Jønsson has played with various rock bands.

DAY OF PHOENIX hails from Denmark and was formed in 1968. The first line-up consisted of native english singer/guitarist Cy Nicklin, drummer Henrik Friis plus Ole Prehn, Karsten Lyng and Jess Stæhr - all three ex-members of a band called 'The Maniacs'. During the early days they released the single 'Tell me / I think it's gonna rain today' and wrote one soundtrack before Nicklin suddenly left to join the band 'Culpeper's Orchard'.

Tony Reeves - bassist of the early Colosseum band - was the producer of their first long player 'Wide Open N-Way'. It was recorded in Copenhagen and is pointed out as the jewel of the band's musical history. With new vocalist Hans Lauridsen and bassist Erik Stedt substituting Stæhr they worked out an ambitious psychedelic based album with references to the US West Coast style. Additionally provided with folk and jazz elements it has a reputation nowadays in the progressive rock scene and is receiving excellent reviews. 1971 the next single 'Deep Within The Storm / Chicken Skin' followed.

And then DAY OF PHOENIX fall apart because Erik Stedt died unexpectedly. The band had to be reorganized with the remaining Prehn and Lyng. After the split of Burnin' Red Ivanhoe Ole Fick, Jess Stæhr and Bo Thrige Andersen joined to record the new album 'The Neighbour's Son'. Compared to the foreunner it contains shorter and more plain rock songs and is frequently evaluated as a disappointment. Stæhr, Fick and Anderson went on to rebuild Burnin' Red Ivanhoe afterwards.

1979 the danish sublabel of swedish Sonet Grammofon reissued both DAY OF PHOENIX albums as a 2LP release followed by a Universal Music digitally remastered version in 2000.

The seeds for ACHE were sown in the early 60's via the Danish beat group THE HARLOWS. When HARLOWS Torsten Olafsson (bass), Peter Mellin (organ) and Glenn Fischer (drums) were joined by former MCKENZIE SET guitarist Finn Olafsson in 1968, ACHE was born.

They spent the next two years working on an extended piece called "De Homine Urbano", which was released as programme music to an experimental "rock ballet" in 1970. Released on the Philips label the same year with an accompanying single of non-album tracks, it netted positive reviews in the Danish press. ACHE's "rock theater" created something of a sensation in the rock underground, and "Green Man" followed in 1971. The next major ACHE project, by a revised six-piece version of the band, was a conceptual work called "Pictures From Cyclus 7", written in collaboration with lyricist Bo Lillesöe in 1975 and released one year later.

Ache have remained active on and off, albeit sporadically, ever since. Their only other major work (i.e.: not counting singles and compilations) has been "Blå som altid", a folk-oriented album released in 1978.

Danish progrock band formed by leading rock and jazz artists as a danish supergroup. Founded early 1970 by Bent Hesselmann and Lars Bisgaard with Peer Frost, Niels Brønsted, Bo Stief and Carsten Smedegaard. Live debut June 23rd.
Recorded debut album in July '70. In December Lars Bisgaard was replaced by Allan Mortensen, and their debut album was re-recorded with two new tracks, and re-released in February 1971.
As the album was to be released in the US and UK the band was forced to change name in july 1971 as a Canadian Band had the rights to their original name, and the bands second version of the debut-album was again re-released under the new band name, Midnight Sun .

formed from the Danish group Peter Belli and the Boom Boom Brothers (aka The B.B. Brothers) in June 1967. Three of the B.B. Brothers, guitarist Claus Bøhling, drummer Jens Marqvard Otzen and British vocalist and bassist Mac MacLeod formed the power trio. Inspired by Cream (2) but with more psychedelic leanings they split from Peter Belli to form the band named by MacLeod 'Hurdy Gurdy'. They had considerable success in Scandinavia breaking many attendance records for their live shows. The band moved to England in early 1968, after MacLeod had been deported from Denmark.

In Denmark, on the 19th of December 1967 MacLeod wrote to Donovan's manager Ashley Kozak to ask if he could help the band in any way. Donovan wrote the "The Hurdy Gurdy Man" for them as a gift for MacLeod. MacLeod came back to the U.K. in the new year to see Donovan and a few weeks later the rest of the band followed. After hearing Donovan's demo tape the band set up outside his Little Berkhamsted cottage and played their version of the song. Donovan did not like the heavy take on the track they played as he wanted a softer, acoustic arrangement. Soon after he released his own version of the song which became a hit, his version in the end had a similar arrangement to the Hurdy Gurdy version. Donovan told Keith Altham of the NME in December 1968, Hurdy Gurdy Man,' was originally written for a Danish group by that name,”, “There is a friend of mine in the group — Mac MacLeod — whom I looked to in the early days to learn how to pick the guitar. “I wrote the song especially for them but then we got into a disagreement over how it was to be produced. I wanted to do it one way and they another. “So I said, `Right then - I'll do it myself because I think it's good enough for a single.' “So I did it. And it's out.”

Whilst in the UK they did some recordings produced by Chris White (2) and Rod Argent of Zombies, The. Two tracks by the MacLeod era of Hurdy Gurdy, "Tick Tock Man " and "Neo Camel" are on the Mac MacLeod anthology The Incredible Musical Odyssey of the Original Hurdy Gurdy Man, and showcase the free-flowing power trio psychedelic rock sound that rivalled Jimi Hendrix Experience, The in their live performances.

Otzen and Bøhling had to return to Denmark shortly after those recordings, as they were unable to secure work permits from the Musician's Union. A new bassist (Torben Forne) was recruited to replace MacLeod, and in the early 1971 they released a self-titled album for CBS which has recently been reissued on CD. MacLeod briefly joined the post Zombies group Argent.
