The De Caelis ensemble pays tribute to two great female figures of the abbey of Fontevraud: Aliénor de Bretagne and Aliénor d'Aquitaine. In this album recorded at the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, the ensemble De Caelis mixes ancient music and contemporary creation between sacred and profane by paying tribute to Aliénor de Bretagne and Aliénor d'Aquitaine. The polyphonic and monodic pieces of the Graduel of Eleanor of Brittany precede the Song of Guillaume d'Aquitaine, the piece of the composer Philippe Hersant written in 2015 and inspired by a poem by Guillaume IX, grandfather of Eleanor of Aquitaine and First of the troubadours. Two songs of troubadours are also present in this album. Abbess of Fontevraud, Eleanor of Brittany bequeathed to his death in 1342 the gradual bearing his coat of arms, which remains an exceptional source for the study of the practice of Gregorian chant in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.
