Heather Bennett - Lazy Afternoon (2018)

Jazz pianist/vocalist/composer Heather Bennett is anticipating her sixth recording as a leader. Lazy Afternoon is her debut vocal recording, featuring Bennett's arrangements and renditions of jazz and pop standards. This recording's line up of musicians includes: Bill Mobley on trumpet, Pete McCann on guitar, Mike Richmond on bass and Tim Horner on drums. From pop faves to jazz standards this recording illustrates the flexibility of Heather Bennett and her rather 'dreamy-like' voice and it's gelling with an incredible cast musicians!!…the vocalist sings, the instrumentalists sing…a very 'dreamy' recording!…True Colors, of Cindy Lauper, fame, is done in a spine tingling fashion w/ all the rest following suit. Heather has performed with her own groups at jazz clubs in New York City and surrounding areas Ms. Bennett has performed solo piano concerts in Germany. In addition to these appearances, Ms. Bennett, with Billy Hart and Dennis Irwin, was featured for the Melon Jazz Festival in Philadelphia, and she has done numerous Texas tours featuring her music mainly in the cities of Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Dallas. She has performed and/or recorded with numerous musicians world wide. Jazz guitarist Pete McCann has been an integral part of the New York City jazz scene for 25 years. A sought-after sideman from duos to big bands, he has played guitar on over 100 CDs. Mike Richmond has been featured on over 350 recordings (12 solo) and has recorded/performed internationally with the Charles Mingus Dynasty/Big Band/Orchestra, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Quincy Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Bobby McFerrin among many others. He has won Grammy Awards with Miles Davis, Quincy Jones and the Philadelphia Orchestra. New York drummer Tim Horner is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He is one of New York's most in-demand jazz drummers. Bill Mobley is a renowned NYC trumpet player w/ a rich history.
